First off to say before I begin this review, I was a little...wasted last night and I wrote a jacked up review, so excuse me for that. It's deleted now.
Now, I have escaped the year of the 90's, for a moment, and I have decided to go back to the year of 1984 to one of the greatest movies to ever come out during that decade, A Nightmare On Elm Street.
The movie follows a group of teens who are being stalked and tormented by a severly burnt man in their dreams. After one of the friends dies, the other's set out to find out who and what this person could be.
Now this happens to be one of my favorites. It really creeped me out, seriously, mainly these two scene's: The one when he's walking down the alley and his arms expand about two feet long and the blood coming out of the bed scene, whoa.
I also liked the acting done by our leads, especially freddy himself, which I believe made Robert England who he is now. Now this movie stands a little bit above all the other slasher films of the 80's, because it is original and it wasn't just about some teens getting high or going into the woods getting their heads chopped off, it was put into a real life perspective, dreams, and I think that what really makes the movie. The is works as a supernatural slasher, which nowadays is hard to do with some movies. Wes is a genius at what he does (scream).
On the other hand, the movie only has two faults, the fact that they didn't simply use with some specific background info on freddy, I know the woman told us what happened to him, but I really wanted to know more. The second would be the lack of gore, but we don't get some bloody scenes. So I think an 8 suits this best.
