    Fright Night Part 2

Yeah I know I'm just pumped full of reviews, but I just have some movies to talk about...unfortunately my last two were of good ones, this one will not...enjoy!

    FRIGHT NIGHT PART 2 (1988)

Starring: William Ragsdale, Roddy McDowall, Traci Lind, Julie Carmen.

    Written by: Tim Metcalfe

    Directed by: Tommy Lee Wallace

As many of you may know, Fright Night was a very successful vampire film I've always enjoyed watching over, and really wished there was more to it and I come across Fright Night Part 2 out of the blue and squeal like a little kid at Christmas to see this movie. Unfortunately, my hopes for a good story with Stephen Geoffreys back in it and with badass vampires was a bit gashed and it wasen't as great of a movie as I hoped it was going to be, not even the main vampire character was interesting enough to be a villain.

The story continues as it starts with Charlie pretending there were no such things as vampires, Peter Vincent doing the same...Charlie lives in a nice hotel, has a new girlfriend who is just as stupid as the last girl (I mean they diss on Charlie too easily for such little things, I mean WTF? Charlie isn't that bad!), a blond named Alex, and no Stephen Geoffreys. But anyway, as time goes on a babilicious vampress moves into town, Regine, and has a gang of three other vampires that follow her around causing "mayhem". (Okay, one is a dumb@$$ who likes to change into a wolf-creature from time-to-time and just fail at everything, the second likes to eat bugs..., and the third likes to roller skate around and seems to act like a tranny)

Regine has come to get revenge for her dead brother, Jerry, wanting to eliminate Peter Vincent and make Charlie into what she is. So first, she takes a "bite" out of Charlie, so he's slowly becoming a vampire, and she starts to take over Peter Vincent's "Fright Night" show getting Peter thrown into a mental hospital. But Alex becomes determined to try and help Charlie after experiencing what was going on, and getting Peter Vincent out of the hospital so they can rescue Charlie and stop Regine.

Alright, if my plot was a bit brief, I apologize, I was a bit dissapointed in this movie, and here's why:

    1) Stephen Geoffreys wasn't in it (okay so you can do without him, but give him a cameo at least), but I remember watching an interview of him where he spoke of choosing between Fright Night Part 2 and 976-EVIL, he chose 976-EVIL because he wanted to work with Robert, plus he said this movie didn't have an actual story to it...and he was right.

    2) There wasn't really much of a story to this, all it really was was just a vampire moving in again and this time it really gets the hero, Peter Vincent was good but not enough, there really needed to be something more to this like it did with the first movie.

    3) I almost thought the other vampires that were with Regine would be badass, but they were just a playfully and dumb gang of vamps that get killed too easily in the movie as if they just needed to be killed off right away, and their death scenes weren't that interesting...just a bit yuck, but not a whole yuck.

    4) Regine wasn't as badass as I though, SHE WAS NOT, repeat, NOT PRETTY, she's not sexy, and she wasn't as threatening or interesting as Jerry in the first, and her death wasen't interesting either.

    5) You remember the humor thing? They have a lot of that in here and it was bad how they were using it to fill the time slots.

    6) The movie was a lot bloodier and a bit gorier than the first, but it still wasen't interesting.

    OVERALL

The characters were uninteresting, the effects were okay but weren't great, the look and atmosphere wasen't enough, everything looked cheap, the deaths were uninteresting, and the story was mere fishwrap. It needed something different. If you'd like to see a bit of a horror-camp movie that seemed to be a crappy sequel to a successful movie, be my guest, otherwise I don't recommend it.

    5/10

Why? Because you think Julie Carmen saved the movie? Or Peter Vincent? I'll admit the makeup was good and all, but it wasen't enough to fill in the story. I wasen't interested in it. The story was too brief that needed to be filled in and its acting was good, but not exactly interestingly passed.

The movie was entertaining, Vincent was gold, and the vamps were cool.
Carmen was good in her role, so were the bug eater and werewolf man
The kills and gore was sweet too.

If this is a 4/10 you haven't seen very many horror films.

Again, like Halloeen 2 doesn't live up to, nor surpass its original; Fright Night 2 doesn't surpass, but is a solid, not a completly empty sequel. Yes the first is an unsurpassible classic, but this sequel holds up (as a follow up at least). Definately worth having if you love the first.
worthy of at least a 7/10.
bringing back Roddy McDoWall alone gives it at least a 6 (I'm a die hard Planet of the Apes fan).
