im from louisiana and from what i read there suppose to film some of the remake in new orleans , i disagree even touching this , clive barker's original was so classic and gruesome but no one can come up with anything original these days its all remakes and remakes or crappy pg-13 slashers which aint a slasher if its not rated R in my opion , i dont like the idea of this remake for sure though , anyone agree ?

    Hello.

This is not your instant messenger program. There is no need to communicate so rapidly that you can not capitalize, punctuate, and organize your thoughts.

The latest word to come from Clive Barker's news page is that Pascal Laugier is due to direct and re-write the new Hellraiser movie. Clive Barker still seems to remain attached.

There is also the UHM page about this remake: http://www.upcominghorrormovies.com/...hellraiser.php

I would like to propose to everyone who is upset about this remake: please read the novella entitled The Hellbound Heart. This, too, is an excellent story on top of being the inspiration for Hellraiser.

There are differences between the two. The cenobite with the pins in its head is described as having a cheerleader's voice, for instance. That's one of the non-spoilers.

    Please read it.

So: Barker had a very different and equally amazing vision with his novella. Barker is still attached to the remake. The story has already been told in two different ways to an overall satisfying end. Barker will still be involved with the new movie.

Of all the remakes lately, this is one of two that should be the least worrisome.

Hellraiser is the one film that I actually DO want to see remade. Given the science fiction nature of the characters and plot, I think it can be done much more effectively now than it was however many years ago.

Thats said, I love the original, but a remake isn't a bad idea. I think it's movies like this that open themselves up more for remakes than movies like, say, HALLOWEEN.

I am all about Barker standing behind a remake of his own work, i think with him involved in anyway with the film will just add that extra touch to the film, hell yes to remaking this film!

Who could possibly play Pinhead besides Doug Bradley? Actually...while writing the first sentence I thought of a suggestion. I can't remember the guy's name, but it's the actor who played Schillinger on Oz. He'd pull it off!

Well Pinhead as you know him won't be in the remake if they stick close to the book's story. And if that happens, he won't be a "he" he'll be a "thing" and look much different.

Anyone who hasn't read The Hellbound Heart really should, it's not that long and the text is sort of big, so you could read it over a weekend if you read like I do.

Sadly, I've never read the book, but from what I hear, the leader of the Cenobites is supposed to be almost womanly.

And yes, Barker's very much involved in this remake. I believe he's done the screenplay.

    J.K. Simmons.

Be interesting to see them do it with the overdubs to make Pinhead's voice as breathy as it's described in the books.

J.K Simmons, right! That guy's the shit and gets barely any recognition. As far as the book goes, I'll have to check it out asap to get a feel for the real "Pinhead".

I am so going to get flamed for this, but I would like to see The Crow made with a the theme of Eric working for the dead.

This isn't to say I thought the original sucked. I had just been familiar with the comics and wanted the skeletal cowboy, working for the dead, and that aspect of the story way back when the first came out. (Let's please take the rest of this to that thread if there will be any more.)

Ultimately it works out the same way as my feelings about Hellraiser: There is a lot of room in the source material to tell things closer to the original story. Hellraiser was already great. The Crow was at least a good watch with a number of really good movie lines plus a cameo by one of my favorite bands. There was a wealth of things left behind in both cases, and I would like to see those picked up on the second trip around.

If Barker is involved then it should be remade. I'm not a fan of remakes which I have spoken about before but "Hellraiser" could use a facelift. I'm a fan of Barker's books which I wish they would revolve the movies around a bit more but you can ask Hollywood for so much. I think instead of a SciFi Channel remake a big budget remake would do the trick. I don't think they will butcher it as bad as the remakes such as "Halloween", "Prom Night", "The Fog", etc.. which all sucked badly if you ask me.

I don't know about this one, I really like the old ones and I am getting so tired of remakes, I would really like to just see something new.
