28 Weeks Later question (spoilers)

I just got around to watching this last night. I couldn't get into the original for some reason, so it took me a while to get to this....I must say I LOVED IT!!! But I have a question. At the end after the kids got in the helicopter and flew away, it skipped ahead and we saw the interior of the helicopter with no one in it and the rabid humans running through Paris. Did I miss something? Did the kids die? Or is this all to hopefully be found out in the third story? Any thoughts on this movie or answers are welcomed!

I thought it meant the infected ran through the English channel tunnel to France and eventually Paris, but one could argue that soon after the initial infection either NATO or the EU would have destroyed tunnels out of the UK.

I hated that movie - so I pretend the end is the beginning and our cast just all suddenly die.

Thats what I was thinking too. I just got really invested in the brother and sister character and the helicopter thing threw me a little. Are they making a third chapter of this?

Nothing official, but Danny Boyle has said he has an idea for a third.

I didn't like this one that much, I really dug the 1st one though. I'll still check out the 3rd.

Wasn't it heavily implied that one of the kids was also immune, like the mother? And the only one who actually knew the implications of that didn't make it to the helicopter?

Yeah, the little boy got bitten at one point and we see his eyes look the same as his mother's dd when she was infected but immune, so I assumed he could carry the virus and infect others but he wouldn't turn into one of the rage creatures himself. I just figured the ending meant to say that he spread the infection.

This was a solid movie. I like it almost as much as the first.
