After the mediocrity that was Halloween and the eye gouging awfulness that was Prom Night, never thought I'd be excited for a remake ever again (I don't really count F13 as a remake...more of a sequel jammed within the first 4). But this one has caught my attention. I'm not necessarily against the idea of remakes (as the can bring attention to the forgotten originals), just as long as they at least attempt to make a solid genre film.

Why?
1. Why come up with something original when you can cash in on someone else idea(s) (Hence, remakes)
2. Valentine's Day is around the corner and this is a great date movie...3-D too.
3. It's not a classic and like others here have said, it is remakeable due to it's lack of "classic" status.
You won't see petitions floating around the net protesting this remake like there were for Dawn and Halloween.

It has a potential. I hope they won't screw this up.

It has a 100% with 5 ratings right now on rottentomatoes, with ratings from CHUD, horror.com, B-D, dreadcentral and fearnet. Of course horror hating tools will lower it, but those reviews give me alot of hope.

Just rewatched the original MBV with all the cut gore footage intact and I must say it a helluva better movie with the extra footage. If it was released in theaters that way there is no doubt in my mind MBV would be talked about as much as F13 or any other 80's slashers.
Im going to an early screening of the remake tonight and I heard the movie is balls to the walls violent and the 3D effects are awesome. I just hope they keep the creepiness the original had.

Like Slayer above me mentioned, the original 1981 film has just been re-released on DVD with the cut "lost" gore footage remastered into the film! I made a thread on this in the DVD/Bluray section as well.
As for the 3D remake, I'm all for it! Everything I've heard so far has been good stuff...especially on the topic of violence and gore!
Can't wait to see this mofo tonight!

Saw it in 2D earlier (3D Tomorrow!)
Great flick! It had an amazing 80's feel and the gore was quality.
For one moment, I wish you would hold your stage with no feeling at all...
