Disney leaves the land of Narnia

Disney has parted ways with the Narnia franchise and the third film in the series, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, will no longer happen unless some other studio steps in to distribute it. Disney backed out mainly due to not wanting to finance a third of the production costs for the movie.

20th Century Fox now appears to be interested in taking over the Narnia franchise, though the delay in producing the movie could cause problems with bringing back the cast of the first two films. It also remains to be seen if Fox, or any other studio, would give the film the type of budgets that Disney gave the first two.

This sucks, I've yet to read any of the books, but I enjoyed the first film and really want to see it's sequel. I hope Fox or someone else picks up the films, and fast cause the stars won't remain young for long.

I hated the first one so much I didn't even bother with the second one.

I liked the first one and the second was okay. Would enjoy a third but wouldn't be too broken up if it never happened.

    Update on the series.

According to Variety, 20th Century Fox has picked up the rights to the Narnia series from Walden Media, since Disney had dropped the project.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader will now go forward, but Fox and Walden are currently working out the details of the budget. It looks as if the budget will be $60-Million cheaper than that of Prince Caspian's, which was $215-Million. The Studio wants to recapture the "family friendly magic" that The Lion, the Witch and Wardrobe had.

As of now, the cast will be returning for the film, with Michael Apted as the director and Andrew Adamson as producer. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is expected to begin shooting this summer, with a winter 2010 release date being the target.

I really like these films. Have a fantasy film thing. ya know. I would also love to see the subtal knive and the amber spyglass making an apperaence...and you know the end of the golden compass. But Voyage will hopefully maintain the series out, would love to have all 7 made into movies...I know they already are.But these ones are the best.

The first one was awful, the movie literally felt like it was aimed towards 5 or 6 year olds. I can watch family films, like Pixar's stuff and love it... this was just retarded. The sequel however, was fairly entertaining... but I don't really care to see a sequel.
