It looks like Strangeland: Disciple really is happening now, according to more details writer Dee Snider has revealed to Fango recently. Dee mentions how filming will begin this Fall in Ohio and there's an open casting call for extras for film right now, "We will be looking for talent in the body modification and fetish world," Dee said. "Everywhere I go now, every guy and girl with tattoos and big holes in their ears wants to be in my movie! I want enthusiasts from all over the country to be a part of Strangeland: Disciple!"
He adds that casting for the leads will begin soon, including casting for a new director. Dee wants actress Linda Cadellini to return as "Genevieve Gage", but claims she might be harder to get now that she has become more known after working on the hit series ER. As for director's, he's looking to cast a good "up-and-coming guy."
Despite getting burned alive in the first film, it appears that Captain Howdy never died, according to Dee. "Trust me," he said, "I came up with a convincing way to bring Captain Howdy back that’s not a cheat. His new look—multiple burns, mismatched tattooed flesh from skin grafts—is totally horrific."
Strangeland: Disciple will "pick up years after the previous film, and will take place in a secret society whose inhabitants party hard and bizarre at an aptly named dungeon called The Torture Garden. Not only is Captain Howdy still alive, but his ritual-fueled legacy has inspired a group of deadly followers."
Like my previous report, he confirms that they'll be going NC-17, but there will also be an R-rated cut for potential wider distribution deals. You can read about the film's progress over the years here.
