I'm down for a Statham sequel; not a remake. I would be interested in learning more about the predators' culture--they've always impressed me as an intergalactic group of Spartans, but culture can be conveyed through an individual Predator: we don't need a group.
Aliens was good with more than one alien because they were frightening as hive creatures; it just wouldn't work with predators.

I'm all for Robert doing a predator movie. And I think it would work with multiple predators. The alien versus predator novels really get into their lifestyle and the way they hunt. Their kinda like Bounty Hunters mixed with Samurai. They have their own honor system. Their not good or evil, their just hunters. They would rather die in battle hunting something nasty than hunting something weak. I really hope he ends up doing this.

I seriously doubt if Rodriguez will put his hands on the series. If you look at his future filmography, he's got way too much on his slate.

As I mentioned earlier in the thread.
I still don't like the idea at all of having multiple Predators.
1. Cheapens the first two movies.
2. Weakens the Predator as some of the Predators will likely be disposed of in moronic fashion whereas in the first two movies they were virtually unbeatable and were only beaten by dumb luck.
3. They were already weakened severely by the first AvP. While the sequel redeemed the Predator itself. It still was a weak movie.
Rodriguez is NOT Paul Anderson. However I feel like this has fuck up written all over it.

i think it could be done...the multi-predator angle...it could be cool..to me the thing that could fuck up the remake/reboot is the casting..i'm more worried about that then the multi predators..the original had Arnie,Carl Weathers,Jesse Ventura...those some big shoes to fill...

Robert Rodriguez talks about the film and confirms he's only on board as producer, but he may shoot certain action sequences:
SOURCE: IGN"The next stage is finding a writer and director to come in and work with us to bring it to life," noted Rodriguez. "The idea is that I'd produce Predators here at Troublemaker Studios, so that I can feel free to walk to the Predators soundstage, pick up a camera and co-shoot the coolest scenes."
The director went on to explain the thinking behind the reboot: "Predator is a masterpiece of the action/science fiction genre. It's been borrowed from so much in other movies and even video games (that will now probably be turned into movies themselves) that I liked the idea that we could have Predators made relatively quickly."
He went on: "What I'd like to do with it is expand on ideas I dreamt up back in the original treatment, that had really expanded on the universe both the Predators and other species live in. We'd create new otherworldly characters while not taking away from the draw our main Predator has."
Rodriguez also said the name Predators was an homage to James Cameron's Aliens -- which he felt was a "worthy follow-up to a classic."

Glad Rodriguez isn't directing it, his movies are so over the top they become comical. That is not what I want for a Predator film.

True, but Rodriguez comes off as a guy who respects the material enough to not make a film that could exist in the same universe as Planet Terror.
"This is a snakeskin jacket! And for me it's a symbol of my individuality, and my belief in personal freedom."

Who's going to do a better job than Arnie did in the first one? The second movie was good mostely due to Bill Paxton anyway. That movie is a classic that should just stay in pop culture history. Look how they screwed up that whole AVP franchise.

Why not do something more original then a remake or reboot come to think of it I don't think they've ever shown a female predator. I think in the novels they were menttioned as being taller faster and more agressive sorry I can't think of the title but if I am right it would be an intresting direction to go in what do you think? Maybe they could save it from those awful Alien vs. Predator movies (one can only hope and pray) with a sequel that does'nt totally suck and add some new elements to the Predator series two was'nt that great but it brought up two intresting facts 1. They hunt when it's hottest and 2. They've been hunting humans for a long time the gun at the end of two looked like it was from the civil war.
