Used the CCleaner a while ago and it really did improve my computer. It still has some instances where it still does stall at certain times, but it working much better than it has been. Thanks FrighT! :thumbup3:

Usually to make my computer stay as fast as the day I built it (October of 06)

My start settings are custom, I type in msconfig and take out all the bullshit that's running in the background.
AVG scans once a morning at 5am.
I clean out my registry once a week using "CCleaner"
I also do an "Ad-Aware" scan once a week.
I defragment once a month.

Pretty much all I need to do.

I was reviewing my list on how to speed up one's comp and noticed I didn't mention 'Performance Options'. I've edited my original post to reflect the change. Here's what I added for those that just want to try this option alone:

Performance Options-- depending on what Windows you have, if you know how to get to the Control Panel there should be a System Performance Option, which will speed up your computer by decreasing what's loaded on Windows.

For Windows XP you can find it in Control Panel. Look for System (System Properties) then go to the Advanced tab. Once in there look for Performance, then click the Settings button. Dot the 'Adjust for best performance' option then click Apply/OK. It will take a few seconds, but your windows will revert back to the original classic style, but I GUARANTEE that you will notice a great performance increase for your comp from doing this.

I just dled online armor, will it conflict with windows firewall? Because I can't seem to uninstall it bc its not listed in my programs....

Yes, it will conflict, but you can just turn windows firewall off :straightface2:
