could be your modem, do you have it going to a router at all or is it just from the modem to the computer?

Regardless of Comcast being evil, their internet is hella fast and you would be much happier than with that slow ass DSL.

Try disabling windows firewall. Sometimes the firewall can literally block the internet from staying on. I've had it happen to me once.

I'm afraid to turn off the firewall but it looks like the box is check to let internet through.

Sounds like you pretty much covered everything. If it still happens with a dif comp then its definitely gotta be something on your ISP's end

Just to add my 2 cents, Something I try to look into every few months is an update of all my hardware drivers. Theres a ton of "how to" guides on the internet that will explian this process way better than i ever could. I find it helps alot..

Shouldn't really need to look up guides for that, all you have to do is visit the manufacturer's site, they normally have the latest drivers for download there.

Thats probably the easiest way to do it, I've had and miss with the automatic update feature in win 7 in the device manager.

Yeah no one should ever use the update feature in device manager. Always go to the manufacturer's site once a month. At least that's what I do.

Degrags on the first of every month automatically
CCleaner on Sunday
Constantly have AVG on
Adaware is always on, but I run it on Sundays
Reformat once every few months.

yeah, im going to start doing a monthly routine. finally got quality internet, been using the 4g on my phone

Also before I reformat I thoroughly clean my rig. It runs so much smoother after a good reformat and cleaning.
