Elwes Back for Saw VI?

February 18, 2009 - Will Cary Elwes reprise his role as Dr. Lawrence Gordon from the first Saw film for Saw VI? Rumor has it he might.

Bloody Disgusting claims to have heard that Dr. Gordon will be back for Saw VI. A plot synopsis for the forthcoming Xbox 360 title Saw: The Videogame, which will tie into the sixth film's release, suggests as much:

"One man. One plan. One foot. Yes, the doctor is in! With a strange twist of fate and a revengeful plot, get ready for the most anticipated event of Saw. Face your fears at his operating table. Know that no one is safe from his sickness. Chills and screams are his true pleasure. Oh...and Blood? You'll be drenched in it."

Saw fans will recall that Dr. Gordon diagnosed John "Jigsaw" Kramer with cancer, and later had to amputate his own leg to escape from Jigsaw's trap. The ultimate fate of Gordon, however, has remained a matter of heated debate among fans.

A more obvious reason for why Gordon has never reappeared in the series is the fact that Cary Elwes sued his own management firm, which also produced Saw, in 2005 for alleged breach of contract and unjust enrichment. Is it possible that Elwes and the producers have kissed and made up?

Saw VI is slated for an October 23rd release.

They missed the boat on this one. If he had been in 2 or 3, it not only would have made sense, it would have been an interesting way to tie them all together. Now,....

I thought the series majorly declined with the third installment. Haven't seen one since. Wouldn't watch the 6th even if he returned.

Never bothered with the 5th guess I finally gave up. So who knows about this one.

I'm interested into how they're going to try and end this. I do have 2 or 3 scenarios going through my mind at this point , and none will really tie everything up in a neat little package.

I heard the 5th kept bouncing around to the other stories making it hard to watch and sloppy. I never heard one good review so I passed. I did enjoy the first 4 and feel thats enough. I agree don't know how the hell they are going to end this.

Its weird; SAW fans we all want Dr. Gordon comming back to the saga. We even want him to rise as the master mind behind everything but, if it finally results like that, everybody will say it was so predictable. Now imagine another scenario: He is a victim maybe still captive and placed in a new game. Ok, that brings him back too but it's an already used plot resource (Det. Matthews was in the same situation).
So, it's good to have Dr. Gordon back in the series? I'm not sure...

No I do suspect that Dr. Gordon is indeed the victim of Jigsaw as we all have been led to believe, and since he is one of the first victims that we are actually introduced to in the first film. It's possible that he will be the hero in all of this that brings the final end to Jigsaw......I'm just not sure how, and there's always the possibility that he will ultimately pay the price and be accused of being the Jigsaw killer at the very end.....yet again being the final victim of Jigsaw


The more I think about it I have a feeling that he will be the "first" and last victim in all of this no matter how they decide to end it.
