How the hell can this be 'Total Recall' without Mars

Exactly, in the short story it wasn't the main focus, but it was a part of the story. I bet they'll leave the part out at the end about the Alien Invasion thing.

Just saw the latest trailer for this. Looks like another generic, bland, CGI sci-fi action movie. Well, silver lining, maybe it will usher in a special edition of the original with a bunch of extra goodies.

They apparently not only erase his mind but change his face as well in this remake. Ethan Hawke plays Doug Quaid prior to going to Recall.

I hate when I'm in the theater and they're talking about the making of this film..like mini interviews. I see all the people that probably have never watched the original try to explain the atmosphere of the movie they are ruining.

I'm with you on that. It gets worse if you are really early and have to sit through this more than once!

I would be surprised if it finishes in the top 5 and amazed if it finishes in the top 3 this weekend.

I watched the original twice this week. It truly cannot be remade..but I'll post some Austrian Death Machine in its honor.

Just watched this, not sure I get all of the hate exactly, it doesn't compare to the original in any way, it's almost a different movie entirely but it's still a good mindless popcorn flick sci-fi spectacle to behold. Weak plot aside, they did really create a beautiful, imaginative world plus Kate Beckinsale is hot. Colin Farrell delivers a pretty solid performance, again don't compare to ol' Arnie cause it's apples and oranges. Unfortunately they did really drop the ball on using Bryan Cranston and Bill Nighy to their potential and in any meaningful capacity.

As much as I wanted to dislike this film, I really couldn't. Once you get passed the slow start in the first 20/30 mins it really kicks into gear and doesn't let up. Loads of action, good fighting, decent CG, lots of explosions. Like tac said above, it's an entertaining popcorn flick. As a remake, it sucks, but as a standalone movie, it's fun and actually somewhat good. So much has been changed in the story that it might as well have been a movie on its own.

Either way, if you're in the mood for a mindless entertaining sci-fi actioner then I'd recommend giving this a look. Not sure about my rating, but that 6.5 tac gave is pretty accurate. Not too good, but not too bad either.
