i gave up bootlegging movies years ago, I can pretty much afford to buy/rent whatever I want to watch so I figured why bother stealing from those who give me what I like. Though I'm not above bootlegging something that's OOP, who ever owns the rights to the movie is responsible for making it available to the fans...there's no reason for something to be oop in this digital age

Mine was mostly foreign, or rare movies... and wrestling videos... I used to do entire seasons of 80's wrestling from different teritories... I only started burning movies again, because I can't stream exrernal subs to my ps3/360

yeah I ran into the same problem with some anime I had on my computer, i got it to work by re-encoding it into an avi and using transcode 360 in the media center and got it to work. but re-encoding takes WAY too long for it to be worth while with more than a couple episodes of something

If you love movies superbeast I wouldn't ignore blurays, the players are becoming more inexpensive every day and some of the horror releases on bluray are phenominal and well worth the cash (like any Arrow bluray) others are poop and on the same visual level as the dvd (Like the Dorm that Dripped Blood) both dvds and blurays will go away in favor of pure digital distribution with no physical copy...which is a shame and I'll never give up my physical collection.

I am the same way. I still have a decent amount of VHS. Blue-ray is just far too expensive right now.

Blurays are roughly the same price as dvds, its not uncommon to get them for $5-$8 when on sale. I try not to spend over $10 for them unless its a special edition...or one that I REALLY want. I got Enter the Dragon on bluray last week for $6.

Eh I may consider it at some point. We have discussed getting a PS3 when there are enough games my boyfriend wants to play out for it. Just frustrating that Bluray discs will be my third time buying some films. I think that is one of the things holding me back.

I need to take a picture of my buddy's collection. It's immaculate. Easily over 1000 VHS and DVD movies. I know some people have more, but the most I've ever seen personally.

I would switch over to Blu-ray...........if it was free!, It took alot of money for me to do the switch over from VHS to DVD because I'm the type of person that will want every single movie I had on VHS to be in my DVD collection pretty much immediately. Thats the way I was with Cassette to CD, It's a huge commitment of time and money and I just don't know if I can do it again.

I'm the same here . Had a ton of VHS, and never would have changed over to dvd because of the cost for changing over. Even over time the cost was unacceptable. UI still have some VHS that more than likel never will see dvd. My dbvd player decided not to play dvds any more, so I did a lot of shopping around and comparing prices for players, and they are pretty comparible depending on if your getting a decently price ranged player. I set a price of $ 130 for a new player. I looked around, but decided to try online , and wound up bidding on a blu-ray that would have cost a small fortune anywhere else. People must have been sleeping that day , but I got the player at a savings. Far as transfering all my dvds to blu-ray? Not happening I am on a fixed income, and times are really tough. I may transfer a handful my favorites to blu-ray, but that's it. New Blu-ray discs depends on how cheaply I can come by them

$130 for a dvd player!? What year were you looking 1999?

A good DVD player now shouldn't cost more than $50 You can get a kick-ass bluray player for under $100

I checked around Best Buy, Walmart, Circuit City, Target, Amazon , Overstock for the same model I have and the lowest price of those was $165 if they carried it . I think Walmart was the only one who didn't. I gave ebay a shot and got the player for $130 including the shipping cost
