Psycho (1960)

So, I've never been a fan of B&W movies of any kind, even horror, but I gave this a chance finally and watched it today. I actually enjoyed it.

Even for the year it was made it's pretty solid. It's kind of slow but the acting is good. I thought you really got a sense of Marion's uncomfortability when she was talking with Norman.

I'd say aside from NOTLD, this is probably the only other B&W horror I've liked. What did everyone else think of the original?

Honestly Hitchcock just doesn't do anything for me. I respect everything the man brought to film, but his films aren't for me.

I liked this and The Birds. I've seen other films and I feel that way about them, so yeah, mostly I'm not too impressed by him.

The original Psycho is a classic. The modern day remake did it no justice imo.
As they say, "the classics never die."

If you're looking for some other B&W films, you may want to try watching House on Haunted Hill(1959) and Them(1954).

Saw 'em both. Didn't care for either. I think the next one I'mma look at is White Zombie, the Bela one. I forgot about this old 2 dollar dvd copy I picked up from Walmart of it.

Same same same. I think I just get bored with those older films. If there's no masses of blood and eons of screaming I tend to tune out.

two amazing black and white flicks.

Psycho=can't fuck with

it gave the whole "my parents abused me so i'm gonna kill"-theory way before alot of other films, fuck it practically invented it.

If you don't like B & W films you won't like this one.

I'd recommend Eyes Without A Face, old French film.. you'd like this if you liked Psycho.

I think you should have seen this sooner. It's one of the best Hitchcock movies out there, not to mention one of the best classic horror films, and really was a huge asset to the entire genre in camera shots, special effects and sound effects. Another good B&W you should see if you haven't is the Bad Seed Boo...

Hitchcock is a genius and one of the best directors of all time. His mastery of light and camera angles revolutionized the way films today are shot. There would be no Carpenter, Craven, Raimi, Jackson, Tarantino, Speilberg, Fincher, Ridley Scott or practically any modern stylized director without Hitchcock's influence. Psycho is his most popular film and most definitely one of his best.

The Bad Seed I've seen a few times. I didn't think it was anything special but worth a watch. Was that one with Hepburn as the blind chick B&W? I can't recall. Thanks for all the suggestions though. Pre-70s horror is where I lack knowledge.
