I liked this far more than I thought I would. It's occasionally dark at times, but manages to turn on a dime quite often with bits of humor and satire. It also strums quite a bit on the strings of social norms, techno culture, and a healthy dose of the failings and frailities of the human condition.
Spoiler...
I'm not generally a fan of shows that appear to inject intentional political narratives and ideations of either persuasion upon the target audience, either subtly or overtly done under the guise of entertainment, and it looked like I was starting to see that here. "Homelander" itself is a pretty direct Bushism - as well as Homelanders speech at the faith rally. Trumpism wasn't excluded either, but i'm still not sure if it was intentional or coincidental. Homelander giving the in home interview tour showed off a lot of his baseball trophies and says "Yeah there was a lot of winning" while in the camera view there was a couple of ballcaps hanging from his old beds headboard post - one of the caps being red. Could go either way really... but the more I think about those scenes in context to the whole of everything else within the show it begins to seem to me that it's not really a dig at a person or a thing in particular - but rather it appears to be making fun of humanity collectively... and i'm more than fine with that.
Overall I loved it. Acting, writing, production, all of it. Story sucked me in from the start and didn't look back. Easily recommended.
