Three strangers get trapped in an elevator during a short blackout. With the 4th of July weekend and the fact that the high rise they live in is currently under construction, hours pass by easily without anyone noticing the elevator is stuck or that there are people inside. But what's even worse is that one of these three people has sociopathic tendencies.
At first I thought this was more of a thriller, but as the movie progresses there's a decent amount of blood shed. There's also some genuinely creepy moments. I got a real sense of uneasiness, as I imagine most anyone would or already has when you're in close proximity to someone you just know is a little off their rocker.
Since the elevator is the setting, the cast pulls their weight in this film. There's a few traits I personally consider unrealistic (if someone took something from me by force there'd be a little struggle), but otherwise the characters were great. Even their backstories, told mostly through flashbacks, were well done.
I'm really glad I ordered this from Netflix even though I'd never heard mention of it before. It was a real moody, suspensful movie that has flown under the radar. I'm honestly surpirsed no one here has talked about it before.
Easily an 8/10 for me. I def. say check this one out.
