Hood Movies

[Sutter Kane]

I love Hood movies, even the ones from other countries. They are so versatile because they can be funny,scary or dramatic and still work. My personal favorites:

1) Menace to Society: Has the best first three mintues of any hood movie, and instant classic.

2) Friday: Hilarious beyond a shadow of a doubt, my friends and I STILL quote lines from that movie to this day. When that fat broad pulls up to Craig's house and Smoky gets all distraught is the best.

3) Belly: Underrated, never got the respect it deserved but Hype Williams has a great eye for Cinematography. Nas, DMX and Method Man were really good in this. Also has Caine for Menace to Society playing a Heroin dealer from Oklahoma.

Just wanted to know what you all think of Hood Movies and if you like them, what are your top dogs?

Friday is my all time favorite hood movie. I know every single line by heart.

Juice is another long time favorite.

Tales from the Hood is a great horror movie.

Juice was great. Thats fucked up what happened to Steel.

Also liked the 90's Dj battle scene.

I tried to watch New Jack City about 4 years ago.

Unless Judgment Night counts, can't say as I have ever seen any of these movies worth watching.

Although I like Judgement Night all the bad guys in it were tragically white so were the heroes except for Cuba Gooding Jr.

I think it counts. Took place in a hood/barrio/ or in that case a favela. To be a hood movie it has to take place in one of those locations.
