ummm okay.
well i can see why this movie did get bad reviews and why people are dissapointed with it but nonetheless i found it still an entertaining watch.
as the first film was more a satire on survival horror films this one seemed to be a survival horror with heaps of fan stuff packed in. and the characters were idiots which didn't have any common sense. as much as the story sucked, and the characters were idiots it just seemed so obvious that this film was supposed to be this way.
the technical side of this film was original with its change of filming styles throughout the film adding some style to it, and the soundtrack worked well giving it a different feel.
Also the humour in this film, as inconsistent or lame it was it occasionally did give me some good laughs, like the pointless but interesting and entertaining dissection scene. the characters came out with some funny one liners aswell.
This film was just purely to entertain and to definatly not enlighten. it will appeal to audiences that will be entertained with over the top gore, topless punk bikey chicks ( i dibbs the red haired one), midget wrestling and midget catapulting ( lol ). if you do then you will enjoy this as the stylish no brainer film it was made to be, but if you've seen the original (which is nessecary to know whats going on) there will be a dissapointment and dissrespect towards it.
it will be interesting to see what becomes of John Gulager in the future.
Overall:
its fun, stylish, interestingly directed and put together. stupid story and situations but depending on your respect for the original and depending on what audience. John Gulager ( i think thats how its spelt) has some potential and with a good script (much like he did with the original) he can do a great film. unfortunatly the script wasn't that good, ruining the mood and possibility of Feast becoming a popular franchise, but he made up for it the best he could with some juicy content. then again i'm fairly forgiving of it since it was better than i got told it would be.
