Katie Holmes is AFRAID OF THE DARK

Katie Holmes is set to star in the upcoming remake, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark for Miramax Films. Guillermo del Toro wrote the script with Matthew Robbins, both of whom worked together on Mimic in '97. The original film was released back in '73 as an ABC movie for the Halloween season.

The story follows a young girl moves into a home with her father and his new girlfriend, where she discovers strange little nocturnal creatures that live beneath the stairs. The film is produced by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Johnson. Comic book artist/writer Troy Nixey makes his directorial, with filming aimed to begin this Summer in Melbourne, Australia.

Everyone keeps posting the wrong plot. The original movie tells the story of a woman who inherits her father's home. She moves into it with her husband. She begins to be terrorized by the daemons living in the house and no one believes her. Then she finds out the truth of what really happened to her father in that house. It's one of the best horror films ever and it's always been my favorite. It's probably got the creepiest ending of any horror film out there. Watch the original, it's worth it.

Actually that is the premise of the remake, it's slightly changed from the original.

I ve been wanting to watch the original. I might have to look for it and download it if i can find it. Even though Del Toro is not directing it is still a good thing that he is attached, i just wish they had not cast Holmes.
