Admittedly his House of a thousand corpses was a huge rip off of TTCSM and wasn't a very good movie, it was a learning experience for him, i think the Devils Rejects was a very well made movie with lots of insight to the characters and a very good soundtrack.

I liked H7 because it took the back story of Micheal and focused on that at the beginning. I also liked the way the soundtrack was used in this movie as well. i think his involvement in the music industry helps alot in that aspect of it.

All in all you aren't gonna find alot originality in hollywood anymore because the people paying for these movies don't want a flop on their hands so they keep beating the same dead horse over and over again and people keeping going in droves to watch it. The 70s and 80s horror movies are pretty much a dead thing now, people are afraid to take chances with new things and new ideas and they won't usually use big bucks to back a project that isn't the tried and true formula

I still don't think he deserves any praise for being a "good" director. He hasn't proven himself IMO. Makes me laugh that he's in pictures with Carpenter and Romero on the set of "Masters of Horror" - something he is far from.

I liked what RZ said on the inner sleeve of the Sabbath Tribute CD Nativity In Black:

"Everybody knows that Black Sabbath started everything and almost every single thing that people are playing today has already been done by Black Sabbath. They wrote every single good riff...ever!"

I really don't think we were that far off topic, as far as derailing threads this post has derailed it the most

My point in bringing this up is that RZ has proven to be consistant when it comes to "borrowing" other people's ideas, whether it be in the music industry or in the motion picture industry. Maybe I'm strange...I like originality. I just can't stand blatant robbery of someone else's ideas.
I thought RZ always said he idolized Alice Cooper? I have a biography about Alice Cooper, and it talks about RZ and his love for him and how they finally got a chance to perform together, etc. etc. I'll look it up for sure and get back to everyone.

ON TOPIC, I rewatched RZ Halloween recently. Still hate it with a burning passion, but one thing works for me, the same thing that worked with The Devil's Rejects, which IMO I loved. I liked that both movies used music of the time, or at least fitting music, and Rob didn't try to cram some self-serving best of Rob Zombie soundtrack down our throught, unlike the jerk-fest which was Ho1000C. Dont get me wrong either, Ho1TC wasn't that bad, but all the RZ references and such just killed it for me. Plus the whole Doctor Satan stuff in the ending just wasn't great.

Only Alice Cooper? I'm sure he loves AC.

He's made his feelings quite clear for his love for Sabbath many times.

Perhaps you should find an authorized biography on RZ.

If I had to write a book about RZ, here's how 90% of it would go:

    Shitty musician.

    Shitty director.

    Unoriginal.

    The End.
