Because what was given wasn't Godzilla... it was a mutant iguana that could be killed with a couple of sidewinder missiles and Godzilla fans around the world responded with a resounding "Oh FUCK THAT SHIT!!!!"

Toho listened and gave us a satisfying end to that piss-poor excuse for a kaiju.

Never really watched any "Big Monster" movies, only creature that comes to mind is the mutant fish thing from "The Host", man I love that film.

The 90's Gamera flicks were fucking solid. I was really let down with Gamera the Brave though...

I agree. The new monster Zedus was fairly cool IMO, but the rest of the flick was weak, especially with Gamera not having his normal roar.
