Hey warbeast how big is the power supply you are using? And hmm..I'm going to build me a quick dream machine on newegg. Once I get into school in august, I'd like to make this my winter side project..

ALRIGHT after much decision making I have finally built my dream pc online.

    Kingwin 1000w Power Supply:
Thermaltake Armor Series Black Full Tower Case
Western Digital 1tb External Hard Drive (x2) (one for music and one for movies.)
Western Digital 150gb Velociraptor 10,000rpm main drive
    ASUS P6T LGA 1366 Motherboard
    Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor
    G.SKILL Perfect Storm 6GB (3 x 2GB) memory
XFX GX295NHWFC GeForce GTX 295 Video Card (x2 in SLI Mode)
PLEXTOR Black BD Combo Super Multi Drive USB Blu-Ray Drive
OMEGA CLARO Plus+ 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card
Gigaworks S750 7.1 Surround Sound Computer Speakers

Not decided on an operating system. If Windows 7 is out by the time I'm done building this, then I shall get that. If not, Vista Ultimate

Roughly, this build is going to cost almost 4k, but I won't start for a few months yet and by the time I'm done building the prices should drop significantly, especially those video cards that are worth a grand alone.

I'll update everyone on how I am coming along with this, I'm very excited.

what kind of video card and what kind of TV was it hooked to and through what connection?

I did some reading up on HTPCs before I built mine and found that for a good HTPC hooked up to an 1080p LCD you need the video card to be HDCP compliant and the best connection is through HDMI.

Now my 42" LCD looks better for PCing than my bedroom 19" shit rosewill LCD

Because I hate cords, and it would be a lot easier just to throw a disc in the drive and not having to open up any front doors and move my monitor. Plus every drive I have had sometimes sticks and won't open and it really pisses me off.

thats why i dont buy cases with "doors" or put my case in a spot where I'd have to "move my monitor."

Of course I never "bling" out my cases with clear lexi or LEDs either

I've never had a drive stick...I've had the lense gears fail and it can no longer read a couple times but never the tray fail.

All the LED's that are going to be in there are those from the RAM (red) and the power supply which is blue, but meh, it's going to be a fun little project through school.

It was hooked up to my 42 inch Plasma. The issue is really my eyes -- I have a hard time focusing on certain things (especially text) from a distance, so I'd get a headache reading certain things after a while.

Resurrecting my dead topic because I am building this bad boy during the summer. I'm using these EXACT parts because they are expensive now so when the summer hits, they will obviously be down in price..

    - Antec Twelve Hundred Black Steel ATX Full Tower
    - EVGA E760 CLASSIFIED "Overclocker's Pick" 3-Way SLI + PhysX 1366 Intel X58 EATX Intel Motherboard
    - EVGA 01G-P3-1180-AR GeForce GTX 285 1GB 512-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 (x2)
    - KINGWIN Mach 1 ABT-1000MA1S 1000W ATX
    - Intel Core i7-975 Extreme Edition Bloomfield 3.33GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor
    - G.SKILL PI+Turbulence 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2200
    - Western Digital VelociRaptor WD1500HLFS 150GB
    - Western Digital Elements 1.5TB External Hard Drive
    - SAMSUNG TOC T260HD Rose Black 25.5" 5ms HDMI Widescreen HDTV Monitor
    - Pioneer Black Blu-ray Disc/DVD/CD Writer
    - Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional

Right now the cost is a little over 4g's :shakes:, but by summer it should be down because of all the summer deals

Pretty sweet rig you're gonna build, but hella expensive, even when it goes down in price during da summer. It's almost like the one I put together over the Winter, but you got some better parts in there since I didn't wanna break da bank

Once I finally find a job a custom built PC is on my To-Buy list. I'm going to have a family friend build mine for me since he's a practically a PC genius and can get deals on hardware and software. I'll just tell him what I'll want to do and run on it and he said we'll go from there on what to buy, also how much I want to spend will factor in as well. I'm thinking 1-2 G's would be enough to make a pretty decent respectable PC. Great thing is starting in February I don't have to pay rent for a year because I gave up my room in the house so my pregnant sister can move in. So I'm moving into to room we have in our garage which is not attached to our house, which is pretty sweet deal, just have to clean up and fix up teh garage a bit and it's good to go. After a car though the new PC is a must especially since mine right now got super AIDS and died, so it needs to be re-formatted, it'll be nice to get rid of the POS.

once you figure out what you want to spend and get all the parts, build it with him Rust. After you get a feeling for a computer's parts you can build/repair your own shit.

My desktop (when it's not broken) has the same Logitech trackball that I've been using since around '98.

But I love my Z-Merc keyboard.

How is the G9 Fright? I have heard of the G7 and know it's wireless, but never heard much on the G9. Is it wireless? The only thing stopping me from getting a wireless mouse is that I don't want it to lose charge during a game or something.

G9 is wired, but I personally like wired over wireless for gaming, because wireless tends act strange sometimes with certain games, especially after extended use.

It's a pretty sweet mouse if you're a person like me who's always on the computer, especially if you do a lot of gaming on it. Also the outershell and weights it comes with is awesome since people tend to have a preference in the size and weight of the mice they use. Like for me I like it kind of bulky with a little weight on it.

Also, it has sensitivity features on the mouse itself in case you run into issues while in-game and have trouble adjusting it to the right settings. Lastly, just a cosmetic feature (but a cool one none-the-less), is the fact that you can customize the glow color for the sensitivity lights on the mouse.
