So he's playing Deadpool for Marvel and The Green Lantern for D.C.? Fucking strange, Green lantern is gonna be a hard sell to an audience that thumbed its nose at The Watchmen.

so he's deadpool, the green lantern, and a blade character
why dont they just stuff him in any comic movie?
I'm not that excited I think it's just gonna end up being a bad CGI fest with green rings and circles all over the place and comedic comments thrown in...though I dont remember if this Lantern was funny or not so it might not fit the character

Ryan Reynolds is great, and I'd be up for seeing him as Hal. But I never saw him playing this role. Then again he doesnt suck at being more serious in movies either. So he could pull it off. Although I'm still havin a hard time believing it. Superherohype is saying the same thing, and their acting like its fact. They could have picked worse. I would have rather him been flash though.

I've always liked Reynolds, but I was really hoping Bradley Copper was gonna land the role.

Naw, Watchmen was advertised as a action film from the "visionary director of 300." Then people found out it was around three hours focusing more on the story than slo-mo fight scenes. Plus, homophobes complaining about an abundance of dong doesn't help the word of mouth.
As for the sell, look at Iron Man. Nobody knew who the fuck Tony Stark was or what Iron Man could do. X-Men and Spider-Man seemed to be the only safe bets for Marvel films. Total US gross: $318,412,101 and that led to a new flagship franchise.
Dude, it's a shitload better than their original plans for GL. After Spider-Man was released, WB wanted to make a pure comedic Lantern film staring Jack Black. Count your blessings.

I think rapper Common would have been a good candidate for this film.
I think Ryan Reynolds is more within the vein of Flash, which he is also rumored to play.
As a far as the director, he did some pretty good action scenes in Quantom of Solace, but I don't think he's fit for this film. I just hope there isn't a whole lot of C.G.I. in this.
Now that we have our Superman, Batman, Green Latern, and supposed Flash, who's gonna play Wonderwoman???

I don't think Common could play John Stewart. Stew is a former Marine and I don't think that Common could pull off being a stubborn hard-ass who rejects authority.
Maybe for Wally West, but whoever is writing the script should put in Barry Allen. He is the greatest Flash of them all. And if he's playing Hal Jordan, there's no way he'll play any Flash. Especially since WB wants to do a JLA movie at some point and it's possible that we could have a Brave and the Bold movie.I think Ryan Reynolds is more within the vein of Flash, which he is also rumored to play.
Not a whole lot of CGI? Do you know what the power ring can do? It can make anything the bearer wants. He/she can make giant fists, umbrellas, cages, energy blasts, etc.I just hope there isn't a whole lot of C.G.I. in this.
In this trailer, he makes a goddamn folding chair out the of energy from the ring.
If there's no CGI in this, what the hell is Hal gonna do? None of the Corps members would last thirty seconds without doing something with their ring in battle.

I think they mean (I know I do) CGI that doesnt need to be there. Of course you'd have to CGI the projections from their rings. But I would hope the majority of seeing Kilawog (who better be in this damn movie) isnt all CG. Its easier to get away with CG in space though, and you know some of this movie will take place there. I just hope they don't go the route of so many other directors these days and CG eeeeverything. Oh and I really hope the projections are something each character would actually make. In the comics their personalities really come through in their projections. John Stuart is an architect so he makes real complicated things, Rayner is an artist so makes a lot of stuff that looks like drawn characters etc. etc.
Someone said the rapper Common would be good for the role. And while I do think he would make a good John Stuart, im glad their going with Hal Jordan instead. Although it'd be cool to see some cameo's from other lanterns if this indeed didn't turn out to be an origin story (but it probably will). And I say that because I'm pretty sure Hal came along before the other human lanterns Stuart, Rayner and Gardner showed up. I'm a green lantern fan and I read the comics, but I only really got into it this year. So I'm still learning things about GL to this day (theres A LOT)

Cheif got some of it right.
I want CGI but I want it the way Michael Bay does it: by mixing it with live action.
That's why I think Bay would be the best director for this film, because he takes his craft seriously and he knows, and is used to, mixing CGI and live action.

If Bay ever touched any of my favorite superheros, I would never watch it. Ever. People are blinded by his special effects into thinking he's a good director.
Favreau combined CGI and live action for Iron Man. George Lucas revolutionized special effects in Star Wars with just two previous movies under his belt. Fuck Michael Bay.

I'm just saying, no need of spilling your brains all over the post.
I just think they need someone with more expertise.

yeah i dont want bay touching this... as for reynolds... hes not bad... but I would have picture him more as Guy Gardner with his wise cracks... anyway... hopefully gardner, stewart and raynor all make an appearence... could lead to a corps movie. Any word if its Sinestro as the baddy?
