Microsoft is going to bring more games to Steam
https://www.pcgamer.com/microsoft-ga...eam-announced/
I take this as fantastic news as I'm not a big fan of the Windows store, but giving gamers more options is always a welcome change.

So with all the news about the P$5 and the XboX X One X Series X Edition X I thought I'd mention one issue that will surely be on the rise...4K
So the current gen (PS4 and Xbone) all claim to be 4K and the titles that do actually run it in that resolution usually display it somewhere around 20-30FPS. Which is...gross.
However, the next gen will surely be running it at a solid 60FPS, an issue some will run into is that low end displays are just barely capable of displaying it at 60FPS meaning your display could be limiting your gaming response. Many TV manufacturers claim higher refresh rates at 4K but the majority of these are using software to "add" additional frames or black frames inbetween frames. Check out 120Hz 4K monitors and you'll notice the prices are MUCH higher than what you see on the walmart special, this is because these more expensive gaming monitors are capable of actually displaying 4K at a higher rate.
You won't notice something like this when watching a TV show or movie since they are filmed at 24FPS or 30FPS, but playing a game this can stand out.
My overall point: Buying a TV to watch 4K video? Get a cheap one it'll look great. Buying a TV to play the future gen of games? You might want to think again about getting the bargain bin, there's going to be some better stuff and likely reduced prices coming down the pipe that will make your experience much better.

All unconfirmed but still interesting
CPU PS5 = XSX
GPU PS5 < XSX (less the 1TF)
RAM PS5 > XSX (BW and size)
SSD PS5 > XSX (Speed and size)
Performance PS5 > XSX
This is what info i have gathered over the last few weeks. Final dev kits for PS5 are out.
Massive leak says PS5 is better than the Xbox Series X in almost every way

If console gamers cared about specs they'd be PC gamers.

Agreed
If Microsoft doesn't step up with some solid exclusives, it's all going to be the same. PS5 will have graphics and fantastic single player experiences, Xbox will have some decent action exclusives, but the writing in their games will be sub-par compared to Sony. And I don't even want to talk about Nintendo because while their games are REALLY fun, the console still feels dated and will probably continue to feel dated despite the rumor of a "Switch Pro".
What Microsoft needs to do is give the fans what they want. I mean, they have access to Rare for fuck sakes. If Rare announced a remastered Banjo or a sequel/remaster to Conker, that would be absolutely huge. They need to focus on the story aspect of the next Halo, because the previous one was a bore. They are trying way too hard to conquer the PC market, but with what fucking games?
I love my Xbox so much. I love Game Pass and think it's a great idea to have a subscription based system as well as giving the four free games per month. I don't always love the games, but I personally think it justifies the price. This is especially true with the AAA exclusives that they do offer going on Gamepass the day they are released. I realized Crackdown 3 was a steaming pile of shit without me dropping an extra dime on it. They really nailed the entire system on the head. I think it's something Sony and Nintendo are both lacking. The servers to Microsoft in general are great and I rarely lose service. I'm not trying to shit on Sony (but fuck you Nintendo), but from a personal experience, I've had like two problems with the servers with Microsoft.
All of that is great. They know what they are doing with those services, but it's really nothing without the games. Later this year when I finally get my promotion and finally able to build a PC, I am going to keep my consoles for exclusives. I'm going to continue to support all consoles because I love the exclusives. But, if Microsoft doesn't give me something to latch onto, it's just going to be a box to get achievements on classic games.
Oh and lemme rant about Nintendo.
Their online service is fucking awful. I'm no economist and I know services do eventually charge and that's how the market usually works, but seriously? They go from a free service that is just perfect the way it is, besides access to voice chat, to a paid service that has improved nothing. There are hackers galore on Splatoon and fucking Smash Bros. has a terrible online system. It's mainly the games fault, but not being able to pick a new character after an online match without joining a new game? Just fuck you. The UI of the Switch as a whole is super bland and you can only pick two different colors. There is no Netflix or movie streaming and they are just giving you classic games per month in hopes you still subscribe. The only good part is that it's only $20 per year. Which, I can forgive.

Bottom line, if they give Bad Fur Day a sequel I am buying a new Xbox! Honestly, how has this not gotten a sequel!?

Quality rant DM.
My current console usage:
The Switch is for Nintendo exclusive games.
The PS4 is for Sony exclusive games
The Xbone is for netflix hulu and amazonprime
The PC is for everything else.
I will be skipping the next gen XboneXseriesX XXX state of the union especially since most of their "exclusives" are being released in the Microsoft store on PC.
Though maybe I'll get the new controller when it comes out, always loved microsoft's controllers.

Agreed. Everyone is talking about how the Xbox will run 12TFLOPS and the PS5 runs 10TFLOPS thus making Xbox more "powerful".
That is not the case when you factor in the RAM and how the HD's will perform along with the other tech both systems have.
This could be the closest generation ever when it comes to specs.
Only thing I'm curious about now are the price points for both.
When all is said and done gamers will buy the console brand they prefer as there is no clear-cut edge here in muscle.

The specs are nearly identical. The real difference will only be in the games. Sony has more properties that I care about. Good to hear both are pushing their backwards compatibility that's really a selling point for long time gamers and geezers such as myself

I’m already set for the Series X thanks to the Gears series, but MS buying Obsidian - dev of my favorite game of all time - and giving them the budget for a large scale open world RPG (heavily rumored to be in development) really makes my choice easy. And that’s not to mention Series X will be the more capable console this gen.
Good job, Phil.
"Today we live in a society in which spurious realities are manufactured by the media, by governments, by big corporations, by religious groups, political groups... unceasingly we are bombarded with pseudo-realities manufactured by very sophisticated people using very sophisticated electronic mechanisms. I do not distrust their motives; I distrust their power. They have a lot of it. And it is an astonishing power: that of creating whole universes, universes of the mind. I ought to know. I do the same thing."
