Jaws is a slasher movie..

Hear me out. We all know the standard slasher movie formula, the opening kill to set the tone, the set up and introduction of characters, the build up where everyone realizes something is out to get them, and the final climactic battle where the killer dies. Even the locals who dont think anything is wrong. Oh and dont forget the sequels.

Jaws follows all these rules to a tee. Especially where the shark is unseen until halfway through the movie. This makes Jaws a slasher movie. The shark is silent and has no other motive then nature, just like Michael Myers, Powerful like Jason, and clever like Freddy. To be honest, Jaws scares me 10 times more then any other horror movie. Still does to this day.

No , gotta disagree. It's the genre of the movie that kills the theory , an animal movie is'nt considered slasher in my opinion.......would you consider "Orca" to be a stalker or revenge film in the same reason you think Jaws is a slasher film or every Gater , Squid " anaconda" ect. would be a slasher film or just another thriller. So in reality if a bear is loose in your town and kills 10 people over a period of time , is he a serial killer , or just a wild bear...use your same concept......its a bear just like Jaws is'nt a slasher. Sorry dude.

Well in part 4 the Shark wanted Revenge, even though it's a different shark in each film. This shark had a vendetta on the Brody family and followed them bitches down to Florida.
