I always felt like they made a mistake killing him off in that movie. They could have dragged him out and at least made the second film watchable on any level leading into the 3rd film.

DM was cool. And he had some damned good skill. And i agree, they could have brought through the whole trilogy really as a primary villain. Then I'd have more respect for the character.

They could have done so much better in 1-3.
The Pod Race was far too long in 1. And boring. Felt like it took up half the friggin movie.
They all had decent aspects, but all in all it was pretty friggin bad.

Which makes it even worse that he died. He could take on two guys at once, but then some Jedi intern beat him single handedly. Seems like Qui-Gon was holding Obi-Wan back, even if he tapped into the dark side after Qui-Gon died.
