    Asian horror vs. American horror

For those of you who watch both.
Do you prefer the Asian horror over American or do you prefer American over Asian?

Which movies did you think were the best American remakes of Asian horror films, if any of them were good at all?

I personally prefer the original when it comes to any movie. Whether it be comedy, action, or my beloved horror. Occasionally I will stumble upon a remake that i enjoy and even more rare...I find one that I actually like better. Asian vs. American horror seems to be a big one. I don't think I have seen an American Remake of an Asian horror movie that I, personally, thought was good.

Were there any you preferred over the original? And why? I'm mostly talking Asian vs. American horror but this question can span out to any movies in general. I'm just curious on your thoughts.

It's true that there aren't a lot of Asian remakes based on American films, although I did enjoy The Lake House, which was a remake of the South Korean film Il Mare. Of course the original is still better, but that seems to be the case with a lot of remakes anyway.

Foreign horror in general seems to be ahead of American in so many aspects at the moment. As far as Asian specifically, it's a mixed bag. There are some hits and misses in there, but some Asian countries still seem to dish out decent scares. With American horror now-a-days you've gotta look at low-budget efforts to find the gems.

I think asian horror had its peak already, and it is now coming from the european countries again ( mainly France).

i love everything horror related but i have to say something about asian horror i hate how the scarry thing in alot of there film are children with black eye liner on to me thats not scary but whatever.

but as far as the remakes go i cant think of one that i have actually seen that was better than the original. the only thin i can think of that makes them better is that sometimes asian girls annoy me when they scream or are scarred.....

I really only seen underground asian films where the women are torchured, raped, multilated humiliated, umm never really saw a original asian film..then an american remake.

Asian films are somewhat boring to me..I start them and quickly lose interest. I started One Last Call..asian style and turned it off. I saw the american verison, it was okay. So its american for me all the way, until I see that one film that really changes my mind, but I doubt it.

So unless these Asians are being brutally beaten, raped and humiliated, you don't watch Asian horror. Racist

Brits, Italians and Americans is a tie for creating the best movies in my book. Both have great films and their share of mainstream trash. Although of more recent decades the Euro's have made more original and interesting movies. I haven't really seen enough asian horror movies to make a judgement.

Don't really have a preference, nor do I tend to care what country a movie comes from. All I'm interested in is the movie itself and if it's any good.

Yeah I agree. Asian horror is a hit or miss for me. In my opinion, a lot of what they classify as "horror" is over the top blood and comedy. Europe is where it's at now.
