my question is what does everyone have against diary? I understand that it was low budget and all but that is what I liked about it. It made it fell like a zombie outbreak was going on... Was I the only one that liked Diary?

I hated the narration and all the characters mostly. Didn't like the social commentary either, with the added narration it just seemed like Romero was trying way too hard to make his point.

I agree that there was a little too much narration...definitely hindered the pacing.

Not a bad flick. Maybe the 1st zombie soap opera ever made.

Makes you think about what you would do in a world where the dead return life when a loved one dies. Do you bury them or allow them to live, (even though they become a threat to the living) chained and restrained with the hope of a cure to the zombie plague?
Problem with this flick is it harps on that too much. Needed more of a story. This film could have easily been as effective in getting it's message thru as a zombie movie short. 86 minutes? A little too long for a flick with such little material.

Definitely not for anyone looking for a Dawn type flick but still OK for what it is.

The problem with that tho - is that people (myself included) are looking for the next "Dawn", or "Day" - and this simply doesn't deliver...Romero can't do "heavy" films with a major social message... imo

Just finished survival, and it is as bad as I thought it would be. Better then Diary but still bad. Too much dumb conedy. The young man actor was terrible, as was most of the dialouge. Romero is officially like another george.... Lucas. Amazing first trilogy, terrible second one,

Gotta excuse Fright...he didn't like Diary because he didn't understand alot of the big words in Romero's script.
