Part 6 he was brought back to life by lightning. He retained the rotting visage from the grave. That's more Frankenstein's Monster than zombie.
Part 7 he was brought back by psychic manipulation/telekinetic restart.
Part 8 Sucked so i can't recall.
Goes to hell doesn;t explain his intial return, but the doc is compelled to eat Jason's heart which possesses him so that he can be reborn through another vorhees.
Can't recall an initial explanation other than the wierd ability of some sort of necro-regenerative capabilities that keeps his cells working even when dead.
Freddy vs Jason he's brought back by Freddy's supernatural manipulations.
He's not a zombie, but he is undead starting with 6. But he can die by various methods, death just doesn't last on him cuz he's too much of a badass for that.

Nah man. The way I see it is this has probably happened many times before. Down's syndrome kid drowns at camp, and comes back fumbling with a machete in a hockey mask and kills you because you won't be his friend and come to his special hiding place. Camp ruined. So much for beach volleyball at 2.
