"Disney announced the debut of a new label called Disney Double Dare You, spearheaded by Guillermo del Toro, to make scarier, thrilling movies for the Disney family audience. Del Toro recorded a video greeting from New Zealand, where he is working on The Hobbit, saying that he was inspired by the old E-Ticket rides at Disneyland. The first Disney Double Dare you film will be The Troll Hunters, based on an original idea by Del Toro....

... Cook was also excited to announce the feature length, stop-motion animated version of Tim Burton's early short film Frankenweenie, which Cook said allows Burton "to expand on the story and take his characters on wildly imaginative adventures."


I'm kinda stoked. I like some family themed horrors (Monster House, Hocus Pocus, Something Wicked This Way Comes, ect), and with Del Toro involved I can't see this going too badly.

Disney buys a comic book company and everyone shits out 12 ton bricks, Disney dives into sissy horror and everyone's eager to see what happens next.

Animated horror is a decent way to point our youth into the direction of horror fandom without turning them into mini psychopaths. There's nothing wrong with that.
As far as the Marvel thing goes - It's all cool as long as they don't fuck up what's already loved. I just don't want to see a pussified version of Wolverine or Ghostrider.

:nod: Agreed. Around Halloween one year, my mom was out and she bought three VHS tapes while shopping. They were Garbage Pail Kids, Ernest Scared Stupid, and Monster Squad. Was awesome.
