To say the least, the summer movies of this year didn't have shit on the summer movies of last year. They seriously tried to compete with last summer's movies by making them very over the top and extravagant, nevertheless, they were entertaining.
Bringing me to that, I went through and picked out some of the movies I thought qualified, because everything wasn't great this summer.
Check them out:
X-men Origins: Wolverine (Best comic book charactor adaption of the summer)
Star Trek (The Space Opera of the summer)
Terminator: Salvation (The best "Destruction of the world by machines" film of the summer)
Drag me to hell (best horror film of the summer)
Up (though animated, it was the most spellbinding of the summer)
The Hangover (The funniest comedy of the summer)
Pelham 1, 2, 3 (The best terrorist takeover film of the summer)
Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen (The most over the top, yet most entertaining film of the summer)
Public Enemies (Best heist/robbery film of the summer)
G.I. Joe (I think the second best over the top action film of the summer)
Inglourious Basterds (The best war movie of the summer, and also the best "directors view of a war" movie of the summer)
District 9 (Best Humans vs. Aliens film of the summer)
There are probably more you all would add of to the list, but the rest of the summer, IMO, was full of predictability and non-sense.
Please do not expect these films to win an MTV MA, or an Oscar, well maybe "Up" and "Inglourious Basterds" could, but nothing else I've listed.
Those anyone have anything else that should be on the list?
