I won't be seeing this in theatres - but that's only bcuz i don't see anythng in theatres... too damned expensive.
The voice sounded fine to me. What i saw of the face reminded me of a toad (yes i saw cm's post about potentially changing it for the trailer. As far as a new actor goes, I'm perfectly fine with it and couldn't care less that Englund isn't the star.
Otherwise, so far it looks pretty decent from the trailer.

Freddy was also playing with the Powerglove of all things too.
Trailer looked ok but just ok, I was happy to see Clancy Brown in the trailer though that fucker kicks ass. The makeup looked bad, real bad but the voice thing doesn't bother me because his voice changed through out the series so no biggie. I hope his face doesn't look that terrible through out the movie, maybe that was just one scene where the makeup looked like shit

I ain't afraid of change. They wanna F with the franchise it's fine. The way they are making there own Freddy is shaping up to be a horrible one from the trailer alone. Horrible voice and horrible face.

Looks okay. From the trailer it looks like it's going to be dark like the original Nightmare which is a plus. The dream sequences from the trailer also look good. I'm not sure about the new Freddy though, he looks kind of stupid and sounds really bad. No one can ever replace Robert Englund as Freddy.

But you hardly see the face to begin with. I hate to repeat myself, but again, the face could have been altered because it's "too gruesome" to be shown. Remember when Dr. Manhattan blew up the Vietcong in Watchmen? It was a full of blood and guts shot, but it had to be toned down for the trailer.

Until we get a full, unaltered for sure picture of his face, I don't think it's time to complain about it. And as for the voice, it sounds like a man who's had his lips burnt horribly, that's for sure. But again, I remember Freddy saying "messy" in FvJ in a different tone than his usual voice. Maybe that's the same situation. Let's wait until we hear more from him.
Ah, come on, man. When have teens in horror movies ever had great dialogue? I'm sure any dumb lines they have will be surpassed by their screams of terror and death as a four-bladed glove rips them to pieces. And plus, it was, what, ten complete sentences?

I don't know why anyone would have a problem with any of these characters being used again and their stories being retold. I personally am excited to be able to witness the likes of Michael Meyers, Jason Voorhees and Freddy Kruger join the ranks of Dracula, Frankenstein's monster and the Wolfman as icons of the genre. Some may say I'm overstating it but I could definitely imagine my grand parents argue about who the "true" Count Dracula was. If the movie will be any good remains to be seen but the fact that these characters and stories are being kept alive is great IMO

There's nothing that they can do that will screw up the franchise more than what's already been done. Let's not pretend that all the Englund movies are perfect and don't require a restart. Freddy went from hiding in the shadows to having high beams on him at all times. "Wait, you forgot the power glove!"
Freddy in the first film may be my favorite horror character, ever. And if the trailer shows anything, it's that they're going back to those roots, which gets me very excited. I'm not excepting a masterpiece, but what I am expecting is a good Freddy movie where he's back to the bad ass we all love him as.
Side note- as I typed this, Jon Gruden referred to Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith as "Freddy Krueger, the horror creature." Now, this is probably just a cool coincidence, as Gruden (coincidentally often referred to as Chucky) doesn't strike me as a guy who even knows there's a new ANOES film on the way.

I don't know. They could still be doing some post production stuff on Freddy's face, but I made a couple of screen grabs then lightened them up. One is from the near-end, when there are brief flashes of him swinging his claw. The other is from the "Not one bit" scene.
I'll probably go see this. It is another Nightmare on Elm Street movie, and I am extremely curious. Having said as much, I really hope his face looks less like a stuffed animal in the final film.
