There are so many...I really liked the beginning of Romero's Day of the Dead. Gave you an idea of just how out of control the zombie plague had become.

"Hellooooo!"

Minutes later hordes of moaning zombies march toward the Florida coast. Excellent.

Fuck yeah, when the words DAY OF THE DEAD appear while the silhouetted face of Dr. Tongue looms down at you....yeah, when I was a kid, seein' that shit in the theater, already a mad Dawn fan...horror fuckin' heaven. One of the best experiences I've ever had at a theater.

Man, I didn't read ALL the previous posts in this thread- did anyone mention the understated opening of The Exorcist with Father Marin in Iraq? Man, that just gives me a feeling of impending doom- w/ Marin facing the statue from across the ravine while you get the cut scenes of the two dogs fighting...the sound editing, everything about that opening scene that culminates in the freakiest dissonant orchestral/violin noises EVER in any movie with the red letters THE EXORCIST...you knew you were in for something.

Also, gotta love the beginning of 28 Days Later...good shit w/the monkey being forced to watch the human violence on multiple screens..disturbing. :darksmiley:

Oh- the chain-whip job at the beginning of Fulci's The Beyond..atmospheric AND gory as can be..and lingering. I LOVE YOU LUCIO FULCI, R.I.P.

Sid Haig is fucking awesome this was probably one of the best scenes of the movie i think...he was my favorite character in these films...

I don't like people knocking on the remakes...ok...nothing will ever come close to the orginals..i got that and understand it completely. However I love to watch people bring them back to get a sense of their version of it. Id much rather watch these remakes than the shit remakes we do of Asian films.

If I had it my way i would love to see more originality in the horror genre...in order to do that you need to venture far from the USA!!!!

It's just a beautifly shot scene and sucked me right into th film.

Phenomena is just a great film all around, Great cast, Jennifer Connelly is great.
