The LA Times spoke with Paramount Chairman Brad Grey today, who said, "We have the rights on a worldwide basis to do 'Paranormal 2' and we're looking to see if that makes some sense." Grey believes the original is on track to gross more than $100 million domestically. That would make it the most profitable film for Paramount since he took over in 2005 and, quite possibly, in the studio's history.

But lest they move too quickly, let's not forget that producing follow-ups to low-cost movies that unexpectedly capture the nation's attention can be difficult, however, making a "Paranormal" sequel a potentially perilous task for the studio. "Book of Shadows," the 2000 follow-up to 1999's indie horror phenomenon "The Blair Witch Project," was very poorly received and grossed just $26.4 million domestically, compared to $140.6 million for the original.

Umm... much like the BWP, this has nowhere to go for a sequal and will likely be an insult to the folks that enjoyed the first as well as fuel the "WTF" fires of the people who laughed at the first one.

The trailer made me want to see the first one but was very dissapointed. Im sure they will make an excellent trailer with loads of teenagers jumping out their seats in the cinema again and everyone will go flocking.

You know, I had an idea that if they did a sequel, I'd have it follow someone who saw the original tape, leaving it in the real world the first created, and that they try to investigate supposed hauting and such, most likely trying to antagonize the spirits/demons. Have the filmmaker(s) try a few places, have little to no luck, then hit something big. Something that would possibly attach itself to the person and basically bring it home like the first film, or have it all happen in this place that they are investiagting. Either way, kill them, let them live, but do something scary. I don't want them to in the end find trace's of the end of the film's surprise, won't spoil the ending, but I only want the second to be "inspired" by the first.

But if it starts like Blair Witch 2, than it's fucked from the start.

I really got into the 1st one not knowing a thing about it before seeing it which is what I believe made it so good. The hype didn't kill it for me.

There is no need for a sequel unless you actually see the demon this time around...that would be pretty cool.

Maybe they will add in another CGI face in the end of the film. They tried so hard to make this film look as real as possible, then they add in that.

All the hype for nothing. And if there is a sequal then that will prob be horrible as well.

I really liked paranormal activity... I liked it a lot in fact. I don't think it needs a sequel. I wouldn't mind another movie with similar idea, or even plot, just give it a different name. That will give the film makers more freedom to explore whatever they want and not be tied down to the previous story. I don't understand why all horror movies must turn into franchises that get crappier and crappier as time goes on. I guess what I'm saying is I would be excited about a new movie that was inspired by PA and maybe had similar themes, but I want something more and new with it.
