Not sure but I think this is best posted here.
I was listening to a recent John Landis interview and he made a point that I've never considered before. The problem with movies (commonly horror movies) these days are not the mass amount remakes because if they're done correctly - everyone's happy.
The problem is Studio bosses not taking risks. They play it too safe. They'll go with a remake because the name and the brand is already in the viewers mind. Why try to make a new horror icon and spend millions on it to bring it to the screen when people already know who Freddy and Jason are. The people with original ideas just are not getting the go ahead and the money.
It makes sense these bosses have to make money but it's sad really.
