Dead Air

I just checked out the movie Dead Air, which stars Bill Moseley as a Radio Show Host whose show gets caught in the middle of a zombie/infected-riot type situation... and it was fairly enjoyable.

Now, going into this flick, I couldn't help but notice a strong resemblance in concept to the movie Pontypool, which also revolved around a DJ in a zombie-type outbreak situation... However, the movies are completely different in execution.

Like Stephen McHattie in Pontypool, Moseley does a very credible job of portraying an outspoken radio personality and is believable in his attitude change as the situation worsens.

There is far more action in this flick than in Pontypool, which never really showed what was going on outside the radio studio. This flick, on the other hand, gets out on the streets a few times and shows the chaos.

All in all, I wouldn't call this a stellar cinematic event, but I did find entertaining and worth a rental or download.

I'm going to watch it because I love Bill Mosely and I found Pontypool a masterpiece. I don't like how it's coming out so soon after pontypool though.

Actually i think Dead Air isn´t as bad as many people thinks. Bill Moseley is almost as good as usual, film itself has some great moments but due to low budget "zombies" look kinda scampy and imo biggest problem of this flick is its pathos.

I watched it the other day, i was scared because of everyone saying how bad it was. I actually was very suprised and thought it was a pretty decent movie. Some parts were kind of cheesy but i give it a 3/5. Next on my list is Pontypool.

Ok so heres the thing with Dead Air, Do you remember The Dentist movie? With Corbin Bernsen?
Well this is Director Debut and for him coming from the 90s era where we had such a mix or rad strange off the chain wall horror like The Dentist, I think he did a great job portraying a Pandemic and not so much a Zombie flick. Which Im sure was the point. He didnt take the easy way to Zombie. Yes this film shows Zombie attacks, but in dark hard to read scenes that left you feeling like the gore was in no way good. But that was the point, to not focus on the attacks as much as how the people were affected and how quickly it spread. Bill Moseley is great and this to me is a better acting role he has taken on, but the rest of the cast didnt serve the movie as well as they could have. They were no where equal to Moseley and for "supporting" there really wasnt.
I love movies that touch on important issues And Dead Air touches on politics of terrorism, racism, discrimination, and going into how some attitudes only lead to more disaster, destruction, and death. The Actions of one person can change the lives of everyone, as we have all seen with 9/11 and the crimes against each other everyday. The film is good, I was expecting more of a Zombie film and yes Im disappointed with the dark attacks, but the film reflects life and for that I enjoyed it. A bit boring but it gave a well effort.

Dead Air's attempt at being "deep" was laughable at best and having the movie's message pretty much just shoved down the audience's throat was irritating.

Bill Moseley did good but the movie was junk.

Oh God, now, I don't want to watch this. I hate movies that try to bombard the audience with a message. But, it's in my DL queue so looks like I'll check this movie out tonight with my girlfriend.

I've seen enough bad to mediocre zombie movies to last a lifetime, give me a heads up when they finally make a superb zombie film.

I thought it was pretty good. It had a bit of a different take on the way the infections work and actually had a reason that made some sense as to why the hell it happened in the first place.
I liked it.
