    Your Local Radio Station

I love listening to local radio stations for their contests, the morning shows and stuff. Everyone has their favorite station, more and more these days people are turning to satellite radio but I like the connection of the local stations.

What are some of the things you love/hate about radio stations. Fav contests? Fav jocks? Fav shows? Fav music features. This is something that always interested me.

    Moved it to Music Highway.

I hate my local radio stations. Way too many commercials. I'm lucky enough to have WSOU 89.5 South Orange New Jersey Pirate Heavy Metal radio 4-5 times a week here. Other than that it's just bullshit...classic rock, hip-hop, top 20 and Latin music.

Just got a new truck with XM SAT radio installed for free...loving it. Blows away regular radio.

Yeah, the music thread makes more sense. My Bad. I`ve been listening to the Grateful Dead XM channel and the Classic Vinyl one - Fucking Killer!! BUT I don`t get the local bit - news, upcoming concerts, general shit going on around town. Luckily there`s not too many commercials on the local rock station. Like 2 blocks of 5 minutes of commercials an hour. Great compared to a few others.

I like ClassicVinyl, but The Grateful Dead I hate that band with a passion. I remember years ago being stuck at a party...all night long GD music...and a group of stoners trying to convince me that Jerry G's guitar can talk ...literally.

    Not my cup o' tea.

I like The Boneyard, HAIRNATION, Lithium, 1st Wave (new wave) The Elvis Channel and a few others

The Boneyard rocks indeed! Oh also love Outlaw Country. They play Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings and Steve Miller, Skynard, Allman Bros and one of the jocks (I don`t know his name) he does the evenings - he`s wicked.

The local classic rock station has the worst radio show I've ever heard. These motherfuckers still do Sling Blade impressions and think it's the funniest thing ever. They also find Grandma Klump to be a worth character.

David Cross sums up radio shows perfectly at 4:02:

I mostly only listen to talk radio Opie and Anthony, Ron and Fez, The Junkies... Def have Sirius XM and I like the Reggae and Rap stations. Locally, I listen to night time radio on the rap stations WPGC and WKYS because that's when they play GoGo music. Which, if your not from DC don't even bother because its local music and you won't get it, lots of percussion and funk. They play a lot of Backyard Band, Junkyard Band, Wale...

I stopped listening to the radio around here a LONG time ago, the two rock stations NEVER play anything I like, even when one of them does their Metal Shop hour on Saturdays. As for the talk show, fuck that I want to hear music, not some tard talk about stupid crap for 2 hours.

We have Q101 and they play ok stuff but commercials last sometimes up to 5-10 minutes. When I listen to the radio I don't want to hear talking. Q101 plays alternative/hard rock music. They played metal on friday nights from 10pm-11pm but got rid of that after a few weeks. Then they put fucking loveline on. So, when I drive at nights (which is often) and I feel like just putting on the radio, I can't because then I have to listen to pathetic teenagers who don't know anything about sex. And of course that goes from 10pm-midnight.

We also have 97.9 which plays classic rock which is alright at times. Commercials are not as long as Q101, but they don't play that good of music all the time

Makes me thank God that I have my ipod.
