Denis Leary plays an unfortunate cat burglar, who is abandonded by his partner in the middle of a heist and is forced to take an irritating Connecticut couple (Kevin Spacey and Judy Davis) hostage. He soon finds that he got more than he bargained for when the couple's blackmailing son and despicable in-laws step into the picture. Before long they're driving him nuts with their petty bickering and family problems. The only way for him to survive is to be their referee and resolve their differences before he can be nabbed by the police.
I'm sure most people here have seen this movie by now. I've never really been into seasonal comedy flicks, but this is one of my personal favorites and one that I have to watch on Christmas (at least once) every year. Not only is it one of my favorite Christmas themed movies but also one of my favorite comedies in general. If anything, just because of Denis Leary and the fact that his comedy style is pretty predominate in the movie. (I'm guessing because his friend directed and wrote the movie, so I'm sure the character had always been intended for Leary.) But can't sell Kevin Spacey short either, as he has some great exchanges with his wife (Judy Davis) and Leary.
All in all though movie is hilarious with a lot of great lines and is pretty far from the standard-typical Christmas comedy flick, which is probably why I like it so much.
