    Unhappy Okay...here's the deal.

I haven't been terrified of a movie in ageessssss. I think the last movies I watched which actually scared me a bit were Shutter (original) and Pulse (original), other movies are great and I love horror but I never get scared. Is it possible to become de-synthesized to experiencing fear during horror? I don't even flinch anymore, and I want to!
So please, throw me your scariest most gruesome movies, slashers don't really do it for me unless they are brilliant, I'm not superstitious either but I love ghost flicks and zombie/infection flicks.

Please everyone, I want to feel fear while watching a movie!

Only Ghost/Supernatural stories actually give me a sense of dread and fear.. I don't think I can be desensitized by that.

"Suspiria" freaked me out. A bizzare sountrack mixed with bizzare images all around a movie whose plot is second to the lighting and mood. It still gives me a sense of dread despite some of the film's oh-so-70's cheese factor.

Also, John Landis's "Innocent Blood" isn't scary, but has probably some of the most effective jump scares I've ever seen.

When I saw the trailer to alvin and the chipmunks 2 i died a little inside.

I've seen Noroi, I loved it, great story. Seen Paranormal activity and the strangers. Pretty good I guess.

Pretty much seen all of em except for Innocent Blood, Janghwa, Hongryeon (no idea what that is but i'll try and find it) and Suspiria. I'll see if i can track those down...

[edit] I have seen a tale of two sisters, it was great.

Martyrs is worth seeing for sure, might do the trick.
The masters of horror episode Jenifer is also freaky as hell.

I don't know how old you are but if you're over 14 i'd say you really shouldn't be getting scared by fictional works of cinema. But hey some people are always timid wussies so there yah go

Dead End is freaky as hell, great atmosphere in that movie and it even holds up after multiple viewings.

It's hard to find a scary movie now sine I don't find most things scary. I use my GF's 12 year old cousin as a gauge, if it scares the piss out of him I consider it scary, so far 3 movies have really scared the crap out of him:

    Day of the Dead
    The Exorcist
    Dead End

Horror flicks are not scary anymore. Grudge was the last film that gave me a chill in my spine. Shutter didn't do it because i figured the ending too early (saw original first then tried Americanized version).

steelba, I haven't seen martyrs yet so i'll try and find it but I guess you're right, i haven't been scared by a horror movie since i was 14 or 15, the last movie to scare me thoroughly was One hour Photo (not a horror but holy shit) and Ils.

Thanks for the suggestion strtfghtr and IrishG3nt I've only seen Day of the Dead and the Exorcist there :]

I usually play off horror movies on my girlfriends cause they're all pretty sensitive to this kind of stuff, one of them actually nearly cried during paranormal activity. I felt so evil.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, keep em comin (:

"The Strangers" was utter crap. I mean, I was REALLY disappointed. I thought it'd scare the hell out of me, and I was actually really hesitant to see it because we had just moved into a new house. But when I finally did see it, damn. Epic fail.

Not a movie, but one of the latest things that actually creeped me out was something my friend told me about on "Doctor Who". Weeping Angels, statue-like monsters that attack with the speed of light or something, and the only way to stop them is to look at them and KEEP looking at them, which keeps them frozen. One blink and they can kill you.

Also, episodes of "A Haunting" are good and scary.

Session 9 has good atmosphere and is fairly unique, The Strangers wasn't even a horror film so I wouldn't recommend that to a genre audience. I'm sure you've already seen The Thing and the other basic requirements.

Martyrs might not scare you but odds are high it will disturb the hell out of you, pretty evil stuff
