Third Pitch Black movie confirmed

Variety reports that Vin Diesel will return to star and produce in a third Pitch Black movie, simply titled Riddick. Original writer/director David Twohy also returns.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the flick will reportedly focus more around the character of Riddick himself rather than the universe he inhabits, which seemed to be the case of the first two movies.

I loved the first film and even enjoyed the second, despite its many flaws. The Riddick character is a badass, and there's still so much we don't know about him, so naturally I'm open to a third. Hopefully it'll be as dark and violent as the first.

1st movie was great, 2nd not as good but still not a bad movie - 3rd I will look forward to seeing what they decide to do.

One of the interviews with Vin back when the second film came out had him saying he wanted a trilogy similar to Lords of the Ring, with Pitch Black acting as a prequal like the Hobbit. Nice to see it might be more than wishful thinking.

Pitch Black was an awesome movie. Hopefully this movie has the same dark and gritty atmosphere.

Apparently the movie isn't going to be as different as we thought --

THR revealed the following: Though billed as a back-to-basics approach to the character popularized by Diesel, the script features the character -- the most wanted man in the galaxy -- left for dead on a barren alien planet, dealing with "trisons" (three-legged bisons) and "mud demons." He must then contend with two squads of bounty hunters, one of which ride rockets called jetcycles.

Sounds good to me! Although it's somewhat of a rehash of the first (minus some plot-details) the first was badass in many aspects, so I'm hoping this will be be the same, if not, more-so.

I loved the story of the first movie, and thought it looked really cool. I even liked the 2nd flick, and thought it could have been better in places, but what do you expect from Hollyweird? The anime bridges the gap between the first and second movies from what I understand, but haven't seen it myself. It's pretty hard to get hold of in the uk, since it got deleted a couple of years ago, so will have to trawl the net for a copy!!!!

i agree with fright i really loved pitch black, chronicles of riddick was entertaining but if they went back more pitch black style that would be awesome

The 1st one was quality. I did not mind the 2nd one but it was nowhere near as good as the 1st. I would be up for another dose of this.
