I love love LOVE the original. Big fan of the universal monster movies. But unlike most of the "I complain to give me something to do" people I was extremely happy about this remake. A movie with todays technology taking place in a time period like that which for some reason tends to be the creepiest. And a freakin werewolf thats ACTUALLY A WEREWOLF and not this teeny bopper crap. I cannot wait to see this. Hopefully end up seeing it today.

I also would love to see a remake of Creature from the Black Lagoon. And someone mentioned they shouldn't do the mummy cuz its been done. And thats true, but I miss oldschool mummies. Wrapped up in buerial shrouds limping around bein all creepy and choking people. Not the Stephen Sommers B.S. version.

Also wanted to mention that I loved the music. Haunting at times.

Just got back from it, I agree with KoolMike the music was great, I wasn't suprised to find out it in the credits it was Danny Elfman. Guys a great composer. This movie had a little to much CGI for my taste, but still turned out to be a very good werewolf flick. Once the Rick Baker werewolf makeup showed itsself it got very badass real quick.

And I loved how the moment Lawrence changed for the first time (thats not really a spoiler unless your a moron) had that ominous "the shit is about to hit the fan" feel. I couldn't wait to see what was coming next, and to be honest the first transformation wasn't that bad. Cuz it was done in the dark. The CGI on the feet and hands as he changed wasn't bad at all. Its in the face that the technology still isn't there. The deaths were great I thought. I loved the sheer ferocity of The Wolfman, uncaring death machine running at 90 mph. And insanly pissed off.

The atmosphere was really really creepy too. Loved that. For some reason movies that take place during this time period always seem to be so creepy if they're done right. I'd like to see more stuff like this, just ease up on the CGI. Bring on Creature from the Black Lagoon I say!

I seen it yesterday and it turned out to be pretty good despite me not being a huge fan of the original film. It was a plus that they added the blood and gore or it probably wouldn't have been anywhere near as good for me.

Bad arse film. The changes from the original didn't bother me much. I agree that the pacing was slow to begin with, but when the full moon comes out you better hold on. Way more gory than what I expected. Top notch acting. The Wolfman was a beautifully designed creature with sweet practical effects.

Bring on House of the Wolfman

As long as it doesn't turn into a Van Helsing-like CGI crapfest.

FINALLY saw it yesterday. Yes the acting was lousy (Hugo Weaving was pretty okay but everyone else just cakewalked through their roles), yes there was some bad CGI (the bear and elk lol), and yes the romanitic subplot was dumb, but the rest of the flick was a lot of fun. The werewolf's design was cool and it's gory rampages were positivley adrenneline-inducing. Plus the photography, production design, and music were all much better than I thought (I'm not a Danny Elfman fan). A solid 7/10 from me.

I'm a major fan of the original, but after reading so many tepid reviews, I think curiosity is getting the better of me...

I didn't like it. Every line of dialogue was about how we all have demons / a monster within us. Got it, now try and make us care for these characters. Also Hopkins and Del Torro gave performances like they just woke up and didn't care.

The make up and FX were great, but all the wolf attack scenes in this were ridiculous. The gore and violence was so over the top, I was laughing. It felt like a Toxic Avenger fight. And I lost count of how many times there was a loud noise/jump scare.
