I liked The Craft when I first saw it. Been years, but I'm sure I'd still like it a lil' if I were to revisit it. Rewatched Dead Snow earlier and a second viewing definitely didn't change my opinion towards it

Dead Snow had some great special effects scenes but storyline wize it was a rather dumb movie

Few were actually necessary. Most were there for a body count, which is why not much was run through for backstories for most of them... i.e. not really explaining what crimes he did in detail.


Did not single out the Craft for insult purposes. Its just my favorite example of how genre classifying is flawed lately. The flick has its moments, though I find it mildly insulting to Wiccans in general.

It sucked.

Same story with one twist, but certainly not worth the millions of $'s that was spent on it. It would have been better to try and come up with a completely new story.

However, how many original storylines can there be with a Predator ?

Another franchise that just needs to be left well alone.

My biggest problem with the movie was the characters. They were all cardboard cut outs. These guys all had shadowy back stories, but they could have injected a little personality. Adrian Brody's mysterious Christian Bale Growler didn't cut it.

Looking forward to this film,it opened here in the UK on Fri - To mixed reviews,but the trailer looks great,so I am going to go to make up my own mind, I love the fact the one review stated it puts action films back 20 years - that will do me! old fashioned SFX,we had to make do with them before all this GCI!

Define 'good'. Its a Predator flick. Hearing the name "Predator" sets up certain expectations. At least to me, in-depth character development and impressive dialog are not on that expectations list. How much did we know about the first Predator flick's mercs besides Dutch? Did Predator 2 give alot of backstory for anyone besides Glover? Not really. AvP flicks? Hell no.

Thats why alot of the bad reviews make me laugh. They are expecting things from a Predator flick that has never been strong points of the series. Predator flicks boil down to require very things:

1. Quick and vague reasoning for prey to be in the area of the Predator... check.
2. Excessive weapons' fire... check.
3. Infra-red vision scene... sort-of.
4 New Pred-tech.... not really to me but some could make the argument new Preds and Pred-hounds balance it out.
5. Extra people there for no other reason than to be chopped/sliced/gutted.... check.
6. A big boom... check.
7. Token minorities... check.
8. Predator roars... big check.
9. Drop off ending that leaves questions about what happened to surviving characters... again, check.

Follows the expectations of the prior films to me and do alot better for the franchise than the AvP flicks. Not to the quality of the first flick, but honestly... sequals rarely do stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the first in the series.

True not every character needs to be defined, but the audience should be able to relate or at least like the main protagonist.

Also a balls-out action movie should be, you know fun. With the man behind the Mariachi series and Planet Terror producing I was expecting some really over the top thrills. Closest we got was starting the film with a free fall, then it's walking for an hour.

Saw it Saturday and loved it, it was a predator movie plain and simple. Not all weird like the 2nd flick.
