Toxic Avenger Getting Completely Re-Done

I use to be a huge troma fan and a lot their stuff is fun, garbage but fun. But Lloyd Kaufman is a business man concerned with making money, no matter what his public persona says. Not surprising at all troma is trying to go mainstream with the Toxic Avenger... again.

I barely remember the movie. I only recall bits of it when I was young, sneaking back into the living room to watch latenight movies on HBO or whatever. I'd need to see this again before commenting on the idea of a remake.

Of course it sucked. All Troma flicks did. Thats the point. They were so horrible, so fucking stupid, that they crossed that WTF line back into entertaining. Its along the same lines as Killer Klowns from Outer Space... so bad, they are good.

That is why remakes won't work with Troma flicks... they won't recross that WTF line, especially with a PG-13 rating.

On April 7, 2010, Lloyd Kauffman confirmed that a PG-13 remake of The Toxic Avenger was happening and will be produced by Akiva Goldsman. Another 80's Troma classic, Mother's Day will also recieve a remake and will be directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and produced by Brett Ratner. Kauffman also said that he is also negotiating a deal for remakes of Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead and Class of Nuke 'Em High as well.

Lloyd Kaufman deserves to laugh his ass off all the way to the bank.

The original can't be ruined. It's too awesome. Let them try to make this movie, let them pay Herz and Kaufman out the nose for the rights. The only losers will be the people who see the remake.

The rumor is he is playing the "Exterminator" so he is basically just parodying himself. His career in politics ended in scandal, his last starring film was a super flop.... I wouldn't be surprised that he dives into Self-Parody.

Schwarzenegger would play "the Exterminator," a former black ops agent, who trains Toxie to use his powers for good. Together they take on the lurking menace created by the polluters, and the polluters themselves.
