I dislike Freddy from part 6. He's too "cartoony villain" for my tastes. I enjoy him in the earlier ones, especially the first sequel, which is why it is my favourite entry in the franchise. 'A New Nightmare' has the scariest Freddy in my opinion. He's very dark and nightmarish, the way he should of remained.

I hated part 6 too K.I.N.G.
Like you said Freddy was far too cartoonish. When John Doe was falling from the sky and Freddy was waiting below with a bed of nails - is this horror or parody? Or just plain shite?
You like Freddy's Revenge? You must be the only one who'll admit that publicly. Besides myself of course. As for the New Nightmare - mixed feelings.

Freddy's dead is the worst because Freddy was a joke in it.
Part 2 was horrible, because it was a bad movie...bad acting, bad script, bad kills.
3 was my fav sequel, then New Nightmare which gets a bad rap by most people but I found it quite refreshing and original.

The original nightmare on Elm St. is just amazing. Then the sequel came and he's running around a pool party slashing people. It was a decent flick, but I found that it didn't stay true to the whole "He kills you in your dreams" thing. Then the movie came out with the kids in the insane asylum and it was shit from there up until Wes Craven's New Nightmare which I thought was really good.

2nd vote for Freddy's Dead. With good taste strtfghtr. I think Part 2 gets a bad rap. I honestly think there's a lot in that flawed movie. And like your HorrorScope good self my fave is part 3.

Well up to now there's no clear consensus amongst us. It's early days I know.
Like yourself DMHead777 I'm fond of Freddy's Revenge warts and all. For sure there's a lot to dislike most especially his foray into the concious world but I adore part 3. Wes Craven's New Nightmare; I'm not too sure.
But I agree: parts 4 - 6 were bad beyond design. If you've never seen 1-3 you'd wonder what the fuss was about.

I liked the whole series for the most part. I'd say part 3 is my favorite. The only one I didn't like was part 5, very boring. Looking forward to that documentary.

As far as Nightmare sequels go, Part 3 was my favorite. I thought Part 2 was horrendous and I don't understand how anyone can even stand up for that one, I didn't find anything even remotely appealing about that one. Definitely my least favorite in the series. May have to go back and re-watch it though, just to be fair, since I haven't watched it in a long time.

plugging your blog is getting real annoying...one link at the top was enough we don't need it in every post (which it already is in your signature)
EDIT: Make that 3 links in your signature

I liked the sixth, to be honest. Yeah, it was too cartoony and even childish at times, but I enjoyed it. "Kung fu THIS, bitch!"
But my favorite is the third. Shouldn't really hafta explain why. Same reasons as you guys, probably.
The only one I didn't like was "New Nightmare". It was like Wes Craven was trying to create some kind of real-life mythology off Freddy's existence. I mean, an ancient evil entity that uses a pop culture horror figure to manifest itself and take over the world? And it starts with a little boy? Okay, call it original or whatever, but that's lame. Even if he had intended some sort of metaphoric meaning behind it.
