It really is. Funny how most of the bad reviews knock the flick for being to violent or having little character development
I think it delivers exactly what the people who want to see it are looking for. It's a great action movie, plain and simple. It just so happens to be very, very violent.

I will definitely be seeing this in theater. The last Dredd movie was such horse shit, I honestly didn't think they would be able to redeem themselves.

This movie was awesome! Urban is Dredd! I've read a lot of reviews for this movie for the past couple months and they all talk about the violence in this flick, and while it's there I have to give a lot of credit to the filmmakers for the way a lot of it is depicted. The way they filmed the effects for the drug the people take in the movie, it's really kind of beautiful to look at even with bullets slowly tearing away chunks of flesh and blood flying everywhere. Did I mention how awesome Karl Urban portrays Dredd because enough praise can not be given for him completely owning the role, also his chick partner whilst a bit annoying at first, becomes someone you want to see more of by the end. I give it a 7.5 out of 10... Nay, 8.5 out of 10... Threw in an extra point for the high explosive ammo, and throat breaking scenes!

Great flick! Caught it in 3D earlier. Though, with the exception of a few key scenes, I think the 3D wasn't entirely necessary. But the scenes I'm referring to look absolutely mesmerizing in 3D Movie has NO slow parts whatsoever, it's just basically non-stop pure action from start to finish. Next to The Raid, this is the best action film I've seen all year 8/10

It was marketed fairly well here. The past 2 weeks during football (best demographic for it) the trailer played constantly. Drove past a few billboards for it as well the past few weeks. But you are right, not a movie that would typically do well in the theater.

Dredd 3D - 8.5 out of 10.
Holy balls, this was a fucking awesome movie. Unlike Stallone's Dredd, Karl Urban's is dirty, damn near souless and in a way....legit scary. Lena Headey was just ruthless as the villoness and you got the impression that this was a woman not to fuck with. In a way, it seems like the character of Anderson whould be we the weaker part of this dark and gritty film, but she's written well enough and the actress who plays her makes her stand strong in the whole thing and believable. Another aspect I loved was this film was an R and it loved it. Bloody, no holding back action and it was just a thrill ride. While I'm not die hard for it, I wish I had seen this in 3D but sadly the only 3D was evening shows so I would have had to pay around 13 bucks. This film didn't disserve 6th place at the box office. See this movie when you can.

This movie was AMAZING. Unfortunetly it tanked but I knew it would, ultraviolet "robocop" style movies just aren't the norm any more, and R rated movies like this making big bucks are a thing of the past. So there will be no sequal. Having said that this movie I think is going to live in Cult Classic status. Karl Urban will be sitting at cons 20 years from now talking about this movie. I loved every second of it. I agree with Fright that the 3D wasn't neccessary and that is another thing that is pretty much always true, I've givin up on 3D I think. The ball was dropped on how great the slow mo scenes could have been in 3D but other than that wonderful movie. Beautifully shot and orgasmically violent. And Urban is a great Dredd. Hopefully I'll get to catch this in theaters again.
