Yes, they really made a sequel to the hit 1999 action-comedy Attack the Gas Station! from director Sang-Jin Kim (Kick the Moon, Ghost House). This flick kinda slipped by me, as I didn't even know it existed or was even made until a month-or-so ago. Luckily, the original director returns and unlike most sequels, this one doesn't suck!
The story this time 'round revolves around (you guessed it) a gas station. In fact, it's the very same (or at least the same owner) from the first movie. Still constantly being attacked by local motorcycle hoodlums, the owner decides to hire four men to help "guard" the place and take care of the punks when they return. However, he didn't anticipate the guys he hired to turn into the attackers and rob the place! Actually, the guys (mistreated and underpaid) decides to hold the owner hostage and take over the place, giving customers a 50% discount and pocketing all the money for themselves. Technically it's money they were supposed to get from the owner anyway
Anyway, as you can expect from a Sang-Jin Kim film and the sequel to the fun Attack the Gas Station! we've got an interesting group of characters and loads of fighting, especially towards the end. Fans of the first film will get a little dejavu when the gas station turns into a battlefield when the motorcycle gang, a group of convicts that just escaped prison, and a local mob crew (along with the four hired guys), all square off in one epic battle
If you liked the first movie or just want a fun Korean action-comedy with quirky characters and silly situations then I recommend giving this a check. It's not as good as the first movie, but it's still a good, fun watch.
