The Horde wasn't too bad, but definitely could've been a lot better in certain areas

Sure it could have been better but it's an ok try for a French zombie movie without a big budget.

The Pack is meant to be better than La Horde - but I'll reserve judgement.....

"Mutants": it's ok but not more. I'm a bit disappointed by what I've seen.

Mutants rocked in the beginning and end, but everything in the middle was bland

Seen some words about "Djinns" and "The pack" in a French horror magazine.

"Djinns": they are disappointed with what they saw. The movie doesn't finally really deal with war or horror. No real mood/atmosphere and a silly plot or a plot badly used. I have to admit I'm surprised to see such a bad review. I thought they would have defended the movie but not at all.

"The pack": they really loved the middle part of the movie, the light job is good, editing pretty chaotic unfortunately (there msu have been many cuts according to them) time: 1h30 but maybe a director's cut somewhere. I know some of the actors (Yolande Moreau and the beautiful Emilie Dequenne) and they're good actors. I'm curious to see Nahon's character in this movie.

Frontier(s): seen it yesterday evening and it was great. I've watched the documentaries about the movie as well and it confirmed what I thought: they used the political background of the president's elections of 2002 to serve the movie with the rise of extreme right. It gives a trustable taste or feeling to some parts especially with the very beginning before the young people are leaving for the country to go to Holland/the Netherlands.

it's nice to see Estelle Lefébure be part of the cast(ing) as she used to be a supermodel for years and she's not used to play such roles. Samuel le Bihan plys Goetz, the bald nazi with a moustache and he looks like he was meant to play this role! It suits him perfectly. And I loved hearing a few german words to make it sound true ("Meine Ehre heisst Treue")

One can say that movies including nazis are nearly always great yeah

*EDIT* Went back to KM's list..Grapes Of Death is pretty awesome too..

"Sheitan" was definitely disturbing. If you like Vincent Cassel you have to check out Gaspar Noé's French revenge flick, "Irreversible". It plays backwards like Nolan's "Memento". It's French, but not horror. Pretty graphic though. Noé's first feature was called "I Stand Alone", and again, not horror but it has some disturbing stuff there. Noé was interested in how Stanley Kubrick would often use or reference a charter from one of his films in another, so the title character of "I Stand Alone" is in the intro of "Irreversible".

Also, didn't see "Man Bites Dog" in the thread. A French horror mock-umentary about a film crew following a serial killer. "The Last Horror Movie" was basically a rip-off of this. "Man Bites Dog" was my first foray into French horror.

If "Man bites dog" is what I think then it from Belgium but definitely to be seen indeed.

Some people here pretty well know the works from Gaspard Noé and are used to see Philippe Nahon in movies.
