AWIL remake should be cool, the original was merely a dark comedy. Maybe the werewolf will actually resemble a you know, wolf!

I'm not a big fan of remakes but I'm not forced to see them by the way. Be sure there are some movies I'll never see cos' I don't want to give them a try and waste my time with useless movies or pile sof shit according to my point of view.

Agreed... If Cronenberg feels like there's something he can do with the concept, and wants to re-do it, I'm willing to give him the benefit of doubt on it... Generally, Cronenberg doesn't just make movies for the pay-check... Perhaps he has become displeased with his other take on the Fly and wants to go a different direction with it...

As long as a movie is being made "sincerely" I don't mind.
But it is usually obvious when it is for the :finger3:k-ching$$$:finger3: as the movie is usually "heartless" and pretty crap.
As well as all of this the directors should stop being lazy by using CGI and start "crafting" movies again by using special effects. It does not hurt to use brain cells and figure out how to physically create an effect. Unfortunately nowadays it seems that it does hurt for directors to really think about what they are doing.

If someone remaking a movie you like is like a slap in the face to you, then you take shit waaaayyyy too personally, man...
My thought that Cronenberg has become displeased with his original product is merely baseless conjecture... It could also be that Cronenberg was sitting there watching his remake or the the original and said... "hmmm... these are both sweet... but I just had a most righteous idea that goes a completely different direction... I think I'm gonna make another version!!!"
Again, baseless conjecture... I for one, am always ready to give ol' David the benefit of the doubt... and if he thinks he can make another remake of The Fly, then I say he should go forth and kick ass...

I'm disgusted to think that with all the new talent that walks into Hollywood on any given day, that studios think they've got no way to go but back. It's not the bloody catwalk, fashion may go backwards but movies? Sure most things have been done to death already, but certainly folks can create new ways to tell the same old story without getting all retarded about it...can't they?

I stopped caring about them remaking movies a while back since I figured they're just going to keep doing it anyway. I rarely watch any of them, anyway. I suppose it'd be interesting to see how the razor blade scene in Art of the Devil would be like in a remake. It was a good scene, but a bit disappointing.

Remakes are fine by me, some of them are actually better than the original in my opinion. More than half of the "new" horror movies being released today are PG-13 crapfests that have no value to a true horror fan. So why not take a shot at re-making an older movie?
With that being said, if they are going to go the remake route it better do the original justice if it is already considered a classic. Some remakes are done and go right to DVD, what's the point?

Of all the Cronenberg movies that they could remake, Why The Brood? It wasn't even that good. Fuck it, as long as they leave Videodrome alone I Don't care.

I think the Motel Hell remake would be cool. If they ever move forward with it.
