I don't need 3D and a lot of CGI and so on... i want a great adapted script and a mood/atmosphere that stays true to Lovecraft's spirit.

I still keep on adoring The exorcist, The shining, The omen, Rosemary's baby and that kind of films. It's about psychological stuff and moods and that disturbs a lot.

I agree but I didn't know that they rate "Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)" PG. I thought due to the semi nude scene at the end with Donald Sutherlands love interest would have at least a PG-13.

I don't think the MPAA had a PG-13 back then, so PG flicks got away with a lot more

If you have never read this story, just go here to read the whole thing. Plus a buttload of other Lovecraft stuff, hell maybe all of it I dunno yet.

That makes sense. Nowadays just the slightest bit of blood and gore seems to get a R rating

I dont really fill that way. There came a time in every video store where every single horror film made got an R rating just because it was a horror movie.

Unfortunately true. It is a shame the world isn't ready for an 3D art house flick.

In the 80's yes because the MPAA went through stricter policies however in the 70's alot more seems to have slipped through the cracks. Personally I think it was just a bias on horror movies so anything and everything was rated R regardless of how much violence, bloodshed, nudity etc was really in the film.
