I'll obviously watch it, but that CGI

With that being said, I can't wait until these guys are back in action

The article says that there's real closure for the core characters, and inevitably for the Phan base as well. It'll be interesting to see just how that plays out.

Either way it's long past over due... and it's been a long hard road for some of us trying to get to that tuning portal.

I think it will this time. Whether we like the answers or not is the bigger question. Seeing how it's been in mothballs for so long, and back after so long - I have the feeling closure is upon us... of course that could just be the wishful thinking side of me kicking in. *rubs rabbit foot like Ferris and Cameron*

You're never seeing finished, final effects in the first trailer for something, generally speaking.

I'm happy they went back to a more correct looking 'Cuda, though it's missing the flared fenders in the rear. It's the right year with the right hood.

When's the last time Reggie sold ice cream???

To be honest, I didn't like the last one. Just left me scratching my head. About the only memorable thing from it was the scene with The Tall Man walking through LA.

But boooooy, I will see this.

I will see this, no doubt. But the chances this surpasses Phantasm 2 are slim to none, hopefully on par with the first. Hopefully its better than the other 2.

I kind of thought they don't give the effects a good polish for the teaser, it's still looking good and it's going to be amazing!

It's more like they can't. Teasers are usually something thrust upon vendors by the studio and their marketing team. Everyone runs around and pulls all-nighters just putting something in there that looks hopefully not entirely shit. Then they often have to redo or do right the same thing again. Same thing happens for test screenings. It's a load of shit. Maybe not so bad in the case of this film, since it's not being made with the weight of a big studio behind it and a bunch of pencil necks who like to make everyone around them know just how important they are. In this case they might be close to or final quality and that's all production could afford. We'll just have to see. They've never had terribly good effects, any of his films. It's kinda integral to Coscarelli's charm.

Nonsense! They have great effects for what it was they were telling in terms of a story, I just hope there's more prosthetic makeup effects as much as there is CG in the mix, they've always dominated when it came to makeup effects like in Phantasm 3, oh MAN! It was awesome and yes even the not so terribly good effects gives Coscarelli his charm and this shows, though I still wish they didn't have to use so much computer work. We'll see!

See, you're giving a handicap here. They're bad effects in the previous films, it simply doesn't really matter. I've only seen the first two films and while the second was an obvious step up in production value the first is my favorite because it was so simple and didn't rely on anything but creating atmosphere. It didn't matter that the effects were technically awful, aside from making The Ball fly. Likewise it didn't matter that the effects in Bubba Ho-Tep were pretty awful. None of that spoiled the rest of the movie, somehow.

Unfortunately, bad CGI is cheaper than bad or marginal practical effects it seems. Still, I saw some digital work in there that at least showed someone was trying. I won't condemn it until I see Action Essentials blood spatter. Nothing in there made me believe there would be anything in this film so bad as Dracula 3D

It was a Halloween night and I was staying at my grandparent's house which meant I got to stay up late and watch scary movies! It wasn't the first rated R horror film I saw from beginning to end (that would be The Omen II) but it was the first time I saw one where I didn't hide my face in the pillow when the scary parts came up. I was with it all the way.

One of the local shops I used to get my grandfather to take me was this novelty + toy store that sold gags like you used to see in the ads in comics and magic tricks and stuff. I had a fake hand that I bought there and the day after seeing Phantasm I decided to keep it in an old cigar box and pretend that it was The Tall Man's. I found an old hinge and lock in the garage and screwed that into the box so I could keep it locked up.

My first job, when I was 16, was sacking groceries and one day, while waiting to leave for my shift, Phantasm came on TV and I hadn't seen it in years. I'd been ready to quit for a few weeks but that afternoon I said, "fuck it," and quit on the spot so I could stay home and watch.

I got a lotta love for that movie. Warts and all. There's just something special about it.

Hah-hah, yeah, I didn't need much of a push but I think about it every time I've seen the movie since.

First is best in terms of horror, but second is definitely best for entertainment. Third is mixed, while the fourth was just a huge letdown
